The frame of my gold Louis Vuitton's dangled from my toe while I sit behind my massive white desk, my oldest sitting across from me as we discuss business. "Ma, those are the last of the Nike contracts you have now." Andre informed me, his long sleeve grey Polo sweater conforming to the contours of his muscular frame, while the mid-afternoon sun light shines through the Zebra print curtains of my office window.
"Okay." I replied while skimming over the papers as he continued to fill me in on the details, "Now you're sure that everything is correct right? Did Legal have anything to say or did they suggest any revisions that needed to be made?" I asked because he told me that he had our Legal department review the contract as soon as it arrived to assure that everything's on the up and up.
"Yes mom I looked through everything myself as well and no Legal didn't have anything to say nor did they suggest any sorta revisions either." He rebutted then took a sip from his glass. I nodded my head while my eyes completed there inspection and then I grasped my custom ball point pen between my fingers. Finally the snow has stopped and now, according to the news, the roads will be clear enough to travel on by tomorrow morning.
Praise the Lord, I inwardly screamed because I'm less than twenty-four hours away from Lucious' ass being out the door and outta my space. I shifted within the confines of my seat, Dre merely gawking as I signed the last page necessary to close Colin's new deal to be one of the new Nike Youth Basketball spokespeople.
"The reps say that they've already got the shoe prototype done, so they wanna get you, dad, and Colin's input on the design so that they can start the ad campaign." My oldest continued, took another sip from his drink, then crossed his legs over one another while awaiting my reply.
"Okay" I paused, then pulled a document out from the back of the paperwork Dre had given me, "So, this is the design, right?" I asked and he nodded yes in reply, while I gave it the once over.
A few minutes passed, only the light humming from my laptop buzzing around us as the rays of sun flickered off of the gold accents and fixtures along the white walls surroundin' us. Lucious was the one to broker this deal with Nike last summer and I couldn't help but smirk as I flipped the paperwork back to the first page.
I have to admit that he did a great job in making damn sure that every single dime Colin's getting is guaranteed and that he won't be taken advantage of in any way. A heavy breath flowed thru me at my thoughts as I handed the papers back to Dre.
Rubbing my hands together, I leaned back against my gold encrusted and white leather throne style chair, similar to the one Lucious has in his office at Empire.
Although my baby Colin is very musically inclined like most of us, he's just not that interested in it but as of this pass summer he became the number one ranked AAU athlete in the country for his age group...which is why Nike approached us. He and the CEO's son are teammates combine that with the fact that Kobe's trained him for a while, and he was under contract with them to...Colin was a no brainer for his spot.
I clicked a few random emails off my computer screen as Andre shifted back upright in his seat, recrossed his legs, then stared up at me while reaching for his glass off of the coaster in front of him.
"I really appreciate you lookin' after this baby." I smiled towards him then continued, "This deal is huge for him Dre, you know that right. I mean, it's the first time in history that they're actually offering a shoe deal to a kid." I gushed while leaning upward and propping my elbows up against the cool desk surface.
Dre licked his lips, "Yeah ma I know how big this is and it's no problem at all. Colin's really good and he works really hard during the off season to get better. In a couple years the NBA will be knockin the door down." He grinned a bit then picked back up, "I mean he's basically been singing and dribbling a ball since he could walk, so we already kinda knew one of those would be his thing right. I'm not surprised he's getting this kinda attention." He continued while looking into my eyes, "Just imagine what it's gonna be like when he gets to high school." I muttered next.
