CHAPTER 17 DEMONS

I brushed his hair off his face as he sleeps. Tingling sensation shots through my fingers to my arms with that simple gesture.

He's been out for a day and I'm starting to worry. My thoughts went back to the events last night.

I saw Jerrod fought and defended us from the demons. I have never seen such bravery in my life. I later found out why he also have the same markings as I have.

He is my protector.

I smiled like a fool as he is also my mate. My dormant werewolf side has been awakened last night as his powers fully awakened, though not enough for me to shift but I was able to recognize him as my mate.

Unlike ordinary supernaturals, Royals don't just look somebody in the eyes and say mate.

Our other half can only be recognized through his/her strength, bravery and power.

Jerrod exceeds it all. I've never seen someone like that. Not even my father.

I have never been happier all my life. I thought I would never found him.

I thought I lost that chance a century ago but I guess fate have waited this long for us to cross our paths.

I stared at his handsome face. He's too beautiful to be just called handsome. He looked younger while asleep though.

He slightly stirred on the bed and his eyes slowly opened. He blinked a couple of times as he stared at me. I offered him a warm smile and he returned it with a charming one.

"Hey?" I greeted him.

"Hey." He responded sounding shyly at me.

I never would have thought I would make this beautiful man in front of me get anxious.

"How are you feeling?" I asked again carressing his cheek.

He closed his eyes while feeling my touch on his skin.

"I'm feeling better now." He muttered softly.

"Do you want to get up." I offered him as I stood up to assist him.

He nooded and let me help him up the bed. Resting his back at the headboard.

"Are you hungry?" I asked him again.

His cheeks went red as he turn his face away from me. I'm feeling a little bit awkward too.

Duh! I'm certainly the one initiating conversations now.

"I'm not hungry." He said.

"Uhm.. Would you mind if I ask you to sit beside me?" He continued glancing at me shyly.

I giggled as I climb to the bed next to him. I rested my head in his chest and he sighed. I could hear his heart beating erratically.

"So your my mate." I stated as I peeked up at him.

He hummed while twirling some strands if my hair.

"Do you like me? I mean. I have been wanting a mate even before we went lost in time. I thought I lost my chance by then but I found you. I am happy but I need to know what are your feelings towards me."

I confessed and I watched a smile formed his lips. I relaxed and smiled as well.

"You know Robin. I think I already like you the first time I saw you. And after what happened at the party. I've been thinking if I would ever have a chance with you. And then fate became so good to me. You happened to be my mate." He said softly.

I'm certain I'm starting to melt with my happiness right now.

"But then, am I strong enough to be your mate?" He looked down at me wiyh a sad look on his eyes. I kissed his lips slightly.

"Your even powerful than us Jerrod. You are more than you ever thought you are. Remember that." I whispered as we kissed again.

"The couple finally went out of their love nest." My brother teased us as we entered the kitchen.

I blushed bright red as I tried to hide my face in Jerrod's shirt.

"Hello brother-in-law." Jerrod chuckled as he hugged me to his chest while Roe wiggled his eyebrow.

I sat in front of him as Jerrod went to the fridge to get something to eat.

He found a pasta leftover and placed it in the microwave to heat up. He served me the food afterwards and we ate it happily.

Later on, Simon trutted towards us with a worried expression on his face.

"Alpha needs you all in his study. Now." He said turning around a hurried towards the alpha's study we followed him and entered the room.

The alpha looked at us fondly as he gestured us to seat. I sat next to Jerrod but he quickly maneuvered me to sit on his lap.

His arms circled my waist settling me firmly on his lap. My eyes shot back to the Alpha as he speak.

"We've found a portal on the mountain ridge this morning." He eyed us closely as he continued.

"The enemy who attacked us last night were not from here." I could feel Jerrod's arms tightened around me.

"What do you mean by that?" Roe asked raising his voice a bit.

Before the alpha could answer the door flew open and Mathew came marching inside.

"It means" he look at us as he continued. "The demons that attacked this castle a century ago to claim both of you returned to surface. They seek to have you again."

My eyes grew wide in horror hearing those words. I turned to my brother and saw him trembling with anger. Swirling his dark energy across the room.

I quickly got out of my mate's grasp and hugged him. I balanced his darkness with my light keeping him calm, as his anger subsided I heard Jerrod make orders.

"Take the women and children to safety. Gather the soldiers and those who were willing to fight to start training. We have a war to win." My heart swelled with pride as I watch my mate stood there.

His markings glowing. Showing his power. Sending us hope that the events from before won't happen again this time.

I really do hope so.
