Ivy

I opened my eyes in yet another unfamiliar room. I could hear voices all around me, but I couldn't quite make them out yet. I looked down and noticed in IV in my arms, and my face felt like shit.

"She's up," I heard a voice say. I slowly turned to my right to match a face to the voice. Daddy! I excitedly tried to sit up as tears threatened to spill out of my eyes.

As Daddy embraced me in a hug, everything came rushing back to me. I remember being kidnapped, and then being beaten. But how did I end up here?

I clutched Daddy tighter as I began crying into his chest. "It was Micah, Daddy," I sobbed. He soothingly patted me on the back and nodded.

"I know babygirl. I'm just glad you're okay." He bent down and placed a kiss on my forehead. I felt Daddy's entire body tense up and I knew he would kill Micah soon enough. I was his only girl, his pride and joy, he would go to war over me.

"Uh Daddy?" I asked glancing around the room. "How did I end up here?"

"Kellen and Snipe," was all he said. It was then that I locked eyes with Kellen. My bodyguard, my protector. How did it always end up that he always came to rescue?

Kellen looked back at me, and something clicked. I wasn't sure exactly what I was feeling, but it felt great. The look in his eyes let me know that he would always be there for me. He slowly made his way by my side, and when he got close enough I mouthed a 'thank you'.

He smiled in return and sat down in the spot that Daddy previously occupied. I reached out and grabbed a hold of his hand, smiling at him.

"I thought I lost you, girl." He chuckled, but I could tell he didn't really think the situation was funny. He almost looked...scared.

"I'm right here though...thanks to you," I replied, rubbing my thumb against the back of his hand.

"Youn know how bad you scared me girl. I was racin' down 'da street lookin' fa you, and Snipe saw a body runnin' cross 'da street. Baby, we was like ah inch away from hittin' you, and then you juh passed out right dea in 'da middle of da street." He tucked his lips and looked away from me. It was then I realized that whatever I felt when he looked at me, he felt too. And did he just call me baby? I tried hard to conceal the smile that threatened to spread across my face.

"Baby?" I asked with a smirk on my face. Kellen's face turned a bright red and he cleared his throat.

"Maybe we should leave you two to talk," Daddy suggested before everyone piled out the room. I watched everyone leave the room, but I caught a look I couldn't quite decipher flash across Nami's face before she closed the door. I shook it off and turned my attention back to Kellen.

I looked at him expectantly waiting on this explanation for him calling me baby. He took a deep breath and tugged at his chin hairs a little.

"It took me almost losin' you ta realize how bad I needed chu, Ivy." He confessed, and I swear my heart swelled at the confession.

"You know when Micah was beating me you kept running through my mind. I should've listened to you from the start Kellen. He was nothing, but the devil himself. I can't believe I was stupid enough to trust him." I couldn't even help the tears that started to fall. Kellen enveloped me in his embrace and placed soft kisses on my forehead.
