Miho stared into the mirror off a truck door, staring at the large purple bruise on her face.

She sighed before walking back to the sled.

Yukari came back from the treeline, climbing back onto the sled, and they took off.

Yukari was the first to break the silence.

"What do you think makes a sandwich?" Yukari asked.

"Hmm... well, it has to have some kind of meat and two slices of bread." Miho answered.

"So is a burger a sandwich?"

"No, it's a burger."

"But it has meat between two pieces of bread." Yukari said.

"Yeah, but a burger has its own classification." Miho snapped back.

"But cereal is considered a soup, so a burger should be a sandwich." Yukari said.

"Cereal is not a soup! Cereal is cereal. Burger is just a burger!" Miho yelled.

"I'm done talking." Yukari said, crossing her arms and throwing in the towel.

...

As the sled pulled, at least a good hour, they followed a road, where they could see three figures ahead.

"Are those convicts?" Yukari asked.

"I don't know. Get ready." Miho said.

The figures saw them and waved.

They were obviously armed with rifles, but they didn't start shooting.

The sled got closer so they could make out the figures.

"Hey!" One of the figures yelled, waving his hand.

Miho stopped the sled as the three men approached.

"Hey, you headed to Perseverance Mills?" The man asked.

"Maybe." Miho said.

"We're headed there, too. Mind if we come with you?" The man asked.

"Maybe. Why are you headed there?" Miho asked.

"We're headed there to look for supplies." The second man chimed in.

"Alright. I'll go with you. I don't have enough room on the sled, though." Miho said.

"That's okay." The man said.

"My name Sam, that's Willy, and Ed." The man said, pointing at the respected figures.

Sam wore a black coat with camo cargo pants with a black touqe. Willy towered over everyone, probably 6' 4", at the least. He wore blue coveralls covered in dark oil stains and had a blue hat with a black beanie over it to cover his ears. Ed had a red flannel shirt and a flannel vest with a ushanka with the ear flaps down.

All three had guns. Sam carried a Winchester pre-64 model 70 bolt action rifle, which was slung on his back. Willy carried a pump action 12 gauge, leaning against his leg. Ed carried a .243 rifle with a high magnification scope mounted on it, which was resting on his shoulder with his hand on the stock.

"My name is Miho. That's Yukari." Miho said.

"Miho? Miho Nishizumi!?" The man asked.

"Yes..." She said.

"Man, my niece would love to meet you. She's also in that tank sport, but she's on the mainland." Sam said.

"Nice. If I get to meet her, I'll sign an autograph." Miho said.
