Miho's eyes slowly fluttered open as she tried to move her hands.
She raised her hands to discover they were bound together with a rope.
Suddenly, she realized she was moving, but she wasn't moving herself.
"Why do we have to carry her again?" A man with a thick French Canadian accent asked.
"Shut the fuck up. Mathis says carry the asshole, we carry her." Another said.
A wolf's howl caused Miho's heart to sink as she looked to the side.
"They're getting closer. Did you hear about what happened to Leclerc? "
"Don't believe everything you hear dumbass."
"Arrow in the chest, man! The chest! No wolves be doing that."
"Really? Wolves don't use bows. You figure all that out by yourself?"
"Piss off."
Miho moved her eyes around, looking down to see the top of a bald head.
She glanced up to see a man with a red flannel and black hair before she closed her eyes, thinking about what to do and acting like she's unconscious.
"Somethings hunting us out here, and it ain't just wolves."
"Mathis'll figure it out."
"What the hell are we even doing out here?"
"Remember the plan. First, we get Donner out -"
"Donner, that crazy fucker. This is bullshit-"
"Shush, he's coming back."
Miho turned her head and looked up to see the bald man with a thick goatee and turned to see the flannel shirt man clearer.
"Hey Mathis, she's finally awake." The man in front of Miho said.
They set her down as Mathis walked up to her and knelt down.
Miho could see Mathis clearer. The man who knocked her out.
He had short, slicked greying hair, with the white around his eye irritated red with blue pupils.
"She lives." He said slyly, giving a smirk a demon of evil would give.
"Uh..."
"Turns out you have a damn hard head commander."
"Thanks?" Miho said, unsure if that was the right answer.
She and Mathis stared into each other's eyes.
"You mentioned a woman. What happened to her?" Miho asked.
Mathis cocked his head, staring into space briefly.
"The one I told you about in the dam. She's still there, and she's not going anywhere."
"Who was she?" Miho asked.
"Just some... lost old lady in the woods. Wandered into the dam while I was there. She saw me and wouldn't stop screaming, so I shut her up." He said, smiling.
Miho's stomach churned as she refrained from throwing up at the thought.
"Monster." She muttered in disgust.
"Ha ha, you have no idea. Why you so worried about her?" He asked, cocking an eyebrow.
"No reason, I guess." Miho said, looking down.
"Oh and uh, Miho." Mathis said, leaning closer.
"Y-Yes?" She asked.
Mathis looked her up and down.
"You look like shit." He said before standing up.
Miho looked around as the convicts picked her up and walked.
"Shit Mathis, how long do we have to carry this bitch for?"
"Shut up man."
"That bitch may be our ticket off this rock. So carry her. And like the man says. Shut the fuck up." Mathis said.
After several minutes, a howl caught Miho's attention as she looked around.
"Wolves." She said.
"No shit." The flannel shirt man said.
"I-I think it would be best if I stand up. I know how to handle them." Miho said, sitting up.
Mathis pushed her chest, sending her back down.
"Stay the fuck down." He said.
Several wolves howled as Miho breathed heavy, looking around and fighting against her binds.
"Pick up the pace!" Mathis said.
The convicts ran as several wolves ran down the hill.
"They found us!"
One wolf bit Heller on the leg as he screamed and kicked the wolf.
One wolf snapped at Vachon, causing him to almost drop Miho as another jumped on his back, causing him to drop Miho.
The medical stretcher Miho was on fell down the cliff as Miho quickly grabbed on before falling.
Vachon was on the ground, fighting off a wolf as it mauled his arm.
Mathis kicked a wolf hard in the chest, causing it to stumble back as Heller looked at the one approaching him.
Miho looked down, back at the convicts, back down the cliff.
She took a deep breath and slid down the cliff, falling off the edge and into the snow.
Miho wheezed and felt an unbearable pain in her ribs and wrists.
Still, determined to get away, she stood up and bolted down the canyon, weaving through the tall and tight corridors.
She crawled over and under large sections of collapsed rock as she listened to the convicts yelling in the distance above her.
Miho stopped running, mostly out of pain in her ribs when she heard voices.
She quickly dove to the ground, crawling to the rock wall before peeking out as Vachon and Heller jumped down so she could see their feet.
"I need a smoke."
"Never mind the wolves. We gotta find her fast."
"What the hell, let her run. She won't get far with those wolves hunting her."
"Look, you dumbass, Mathis says that tanker is our ticket off this damn island. Don't you want to go back to the mainland?"
"But Heller, the arrow in the chest, man!"
"Let's go find this girl before Mathis loses his temper again. You know what it's like when he's angry."
"Let's go. Between Mathis and the wolves, I have a bad feeling about this place."
The two convicts walked off as Miho went the opposite direction.
She made it out of the ravine and to a nearby ruined shack.
There, a rusted tree saw was in a stump as Miho sawed off her binds.
She rubbed her red wrists and walked away towards the edge of a rock wall, climbing up the first one and making her way up the second.
She reached the top, collapsing to the ground as two large boots stepped in front of her.
She looked up and sighed as Mathis smiled before kicking her under the jaw, disorienting her.
"We have unfinished business commander. Stick around." He said slyly before raising his fist and hitting her on the top of the head, knocking her out.
