Miho slowly came to her senses, lifting her head up as the smell of smoke filled the air.
Her eyes widened as she realized she was strapped into the seat of the aircraft, looking down about three hundred feet below.
Slowly, she unbuckled her seatbelt before hearing a dreadful sound of the metal creaking.
In an instant, she jumped out of the plane, landing in the snow before crawling away as the plane gave way and fell into the ravine below.
Her breath was visible in the air as she clutched onto her coat, staring at the wreckage before standing up and looking around.
A red box had her attention, so she walked over to it and picked it up.
She opened it to find a flare gun and five flare shots.
"A flare gun." She muttered.
She picked the gun and flares and looked next to the case to find a pack of matches.
She picked those up too and looked at the narrow ravine ahead.
She breathed on her hands and walked forward into the ravine.
After a bit of a walk, she looked ahead to see a small figure ahead.
When she got closer, she realized it was a wolf. And it was looking right at her.
"E-Easy." She said, fumbling the flare gun and aimed it at the wolf.
The wolf was eating a dead deer carcass before turning its attention towards her.
It snarled, revealing bloodstained teeth and slowly approached her.
"Good wolf, good wolf." She said nervously as she sidestepped the animal.
The wolf growled, slowly getting closer.
She cocked the hammer of the flare gun and pulled the trigger, only to get a click.
Her heart sank as she quickly opened the flare pistol when the wolf charged.
She stepped back when she fell over a fallen tree limb.
The wolf was closing ground as she fumbled, inserting a flare and closed it.
She cocked the hammer and aimed.
She pulled the trigger, sending a bright burning light out of the gun and towards the wolf.
She missed but the sudden brightness scared away the wolf, causing it to whisper and run from her.
Miho laid on the ground for a minute as she nervously reloaded her pistol with shakey hands before standing up and continuing walking.
As she walked through the snow, she picked up sticks along the way, putting them in her pockets before she ran out of room, carrying them in her arms instead.
The sun was setting fast and she needed to get out of the wind.
She stopped to pick up a stick when she looked and saw a cave.
Somehow, in her miserable state of freezing and hungry, she cracked a smile.
She drew her pistol and walked up to the cave entrance, cocking the hammer and aimed into the cave, looking around to find nothing inside.
She set her sticks down by the entranceof the cave, making a small pile.
She stripped the bark off the sticks, putting it in the middle.
She took out her matches, fumbling with them.
She took a match, sticking it and set it in the small tinder.
The small flame slowly turned into a warm fire she huddled next to.
Her knees were drawn up to her chest, flare gun in hand, staring at the fire as the night was around her, held off by the fire.
Slowly, Miho's eyes grew heavy as she stared into the darkness before falling asleep in the cave.
