Yukari looked as the door opened, and Jace walked in.
"How do you feel?" She asked.
"I'm okay." Yukari said.
Jace walked over, untying Yukari's binds.
"Why are you letting me go?" She asked.
"Shut up." Jace said, stepping away as Yukari stood up.
Yukari rubbed her raw wrists, looking back up at Jace.
"So I need your help." She said.
"Okay..."
"Do you know who Donner is?" She asked.
"No." Yukari said.
"Donner is a bad, bad man. If there is a law, he broke it several times over. Right now, he's locked in solitary, and the convicts are trying to get him out. If he gets out, anyone in a hundred clicks isn't safe. Especially with an army of men like him."
"So how do we keep him in?" Yukari asked.
"Well, right now, I'm going to scout and find them. A few of them just left, and I need to find them and stop them. I suppose you're pretty good with that rifle."
"I am." Yukari said.
"Well, you're gonna need it." Jace said.
Yukari looked down at her injury on her leg and stood up.
...
Miho maneuvered through the tight corridors that were older than her by two centuries.
With her lantern illuminating her way, she pushed forward.
Eventually, she came across several steam pipes and levers.
Confused, she examined them, following where they went and saw a huge barrier of ice blocking a doorway.
She turned the levers, causing steam to expell into the ice wall.
After a few minutes, the ice wall melted, and she turned the lever back, walking through the door and further into the darkness.
...
Jace and Yukari walked through the snow with their weapons.
Yukari clutched tightly onto her rifle, and her pistol was tucked in her back pocket. Jace held onto her bow with several arrows in a buckskin quiver.
"Where are we going?" Yukari asked.
"I saw a couple of the convicts leave the prison. We're going to find out where they went." Jace said.
Yukari went quiet, stomping through the snow with Jace.
"There's the tracks." Jace said, following three sets of footprints.
"What are we going to do when we find them?" Yukari asked.
"We kill them." Jace said.
Yukari's heart sank as the thought of killing another person didn't sit right with her.
"Have you ever killed a person before?" Jace asked.
"No." Yukari said.
"Well, now you have to. Especially with Donner and his boys." Jace said.
Yukari looked down, following Jace as they walked through the snow.
After a while of silently walking, Jace stopped, causing Yukari to stop.
"Over here!" Jace said in a hushed whisper.
They quickly ran to the side of the road, hiding in cover.
