Yukari changed her bandage as Jace paced around, packing up her things.
"What's going on?" Yukari asked.
Suddenly, the lights came on.
"What the?" Yukari asked.
"It's here. We gotta go. I'll explain on the way." Jace said.
Yukari picked up her backpack and hurried outside with Jace.
"What's going on, Jace?" Yukari asked.
"It's time we put a stop to Mathis."
"Are we going to kill him?" Miho asked.
"I hope so, but that's not the main objective. We're going to sabotage their plan."
Yukari was silent, nodding in agreement.
"We're going to meet up with Miho and head to Suzuki Radio Telescope."
"Where's that?" Yukari asked.
"Fifteen, twenty clicks from there. That's where I was going when my car broke down."
"What's in there?"
"It's an old government facility with all kinds of supplies and hopefully Doctor Atwood this there."
"Who is Doctor Atwood?"
"Doctor Atwood and I have been doing research there for months. Suzuki is shielded. Due to the kind of work they do there, it's shielded from electromagnetic radiation. There's a good chance that all the shit that's been happening out here that it hasn't been affected in the same way."
"What does that mean?"
"It means Suzuki may be the key."
"How do we stop Mathis and Donner at the same time?"
"Follow me."
...
Miho dropped off her things in the safe room and took a deep breath before walking across the parking lot.
When she made it to the steps, Mathis opened the door as Vachon and Heller stood by his side.
"So, commander, did you finish the job?" He asked.
Miho held up the detonators.
"Well, I guess the warden was telling the truth after all." He said.
"Now, what happens?" Miho asked as Vachon took the detonators.
"Now we blow a hole in the wall." He said, looking at Vachon and Heller as they approached her.
"But first, let's you and I have a little chat." He said.
Both convicts grabbed Miho by her arms.
"Wait, Mathis, I did everything you asked." She said.
"I know, you've been a good dog. But every dog has its day."
The convicts dragged her inside and to her cell.
...
Miho stared at the concrete wall as Mathis paced around.
The darkness creeped into the building as dread filled Miho.
"So here we are again." He started.
Miho struggled against the binds that held her down as she watched his feet.
"The problem I have with you is that you keep lying to me."
"I don't know what you mean." Miho said.
"You see, that's exactly the kind of thing that pisses me off!" He said, restraining his yelling.
