It was as if...he was here one minute and gone the next....

It all started during a battle they had with the 'Star sanses'. Well, not including Cross, the smaller couldn't join as he was expecting a child, Nightmares child....so he was in the castle when it happened.

He doesn't know how the fight started. He also didn't care to remember as all his focus was on what Killer told him about what happened to Nightmare.

Once the fight started between both parties. Nightmare had taken a pretty big hit by not one, but two of Dreams bright arrows, it wouldn't have been the first time and it wouldn't have startled the rest of the trio if it wasn't for the fact that Nightmare had collapsed.

Dream was scared, thinking he may have killed his brother as he stood there paralyzed. The rest of the trio did not and quickly ran to Nightmares aid. Before they knew it, they had Science sans check him over.

Nightmare seemed to be in pretty bad condition, Sci told them that he would live, of course, much to everyone's relief. But his condition was so rough they were told he wouldn't wake for a while. And Sci was unsure of when Nightmare would wake up as he needed an abundance of Negativity to survive.

The hardest part was telling Cross.
When they returned to the castle, Nightmare was taken to their own personal healer in the realm.

Killer had to be the one to explain what had happened at the fight and the medical field with Science sans and what they were told.

Cross was in distraught. As expected, he didn't take the news about his husband's condition lightly. He broke down. He was angry, in disbelief, and in utter sadness. Especially in his state, being almost 2 months pregnant and needing to be in Nightmares care...

Since there was no way Nightmare could give Cross his magic to both; be able to help him grow the baby and keep his magic stabilized.
Sci gave him a 'magic stabilizing' drink to aid him until Nightmare could, it wasn't the tastiest thing he's ever tasted, but he drank it everyday for atleast 3 times a day to keep him and the baby stable.

It wasn't easy on any of them, especially Cross if it wasn't obvious.
Even thought he had the help of his friends, it wasn't the same without the other. Cross worried for him everyday, sometimes he'd shed a few tears when he went to sleep. Other times, he'd go to sleep hopeful to see his partner right next to him, that maybe this was all a bad dream and that Nightmare would be here to hold him when he woke up.

But he's met with disappointment...

~~~~~~~~~~
It's been two weeks since Nightmares been out cold. Cross was the room the taller resided in at the moment, sitting beside the bed next to him.
Cross gently held his hand.
That was all he could do after all, he couldn't hear the others' voice, he couldn't feel his soft touches, his kisses, he couldn't feel Nightmare gently hold his stomach and telling him it would all be okay.
Shakily sighing, Cross had to cover his mouth to stifle a sob. But failing.
Crossing his arms over the bed and putting his head onto them. He was crying once again, how could he not when his husband was in a terrible condition.
He didn't hear the door open as he was still crying into his arms.
He jumped, feeling a hand lightly on his shoulder. Quickly looking up, he noticed Lust and Killer had entered the room, Lust' hand on his shoulder.
