Nightmare was going to do it. He was finally gonna pop the question
They've been together for almost 3 years, and Night was sure it was finally time.
He isn't really the romantic type, so he doesn't plan on doing those cliché proposals with the fancy lights and a proposal at a restaurant. No, he wasn't going to do that, Well, not too cliché at least. His name is Nightmare for Stars's sake.
Right now, he was currently in his office, looking over the ring he bought.
It was a beautiful diamond with tiny caret diamonds around it. It looked pretty expensive
He hummed. Closing the velvet colored box containing the ring and placing it in the drawer.
The door opened to reveal the skeleton he loves dearly.
"Nightmare, you called?"
The taller nodded and beckoned him closer.
Cross doing as told, now being next to the dark lord. Feeling a tendril lightly wrap around his waist.
"I know this may seem rather sudden.. but how would you feel if I... take you out tonight?"
Nightmare asked, holding Cross' hand in his.
Cross perked up at the question.
"Out? That'd be wonderful Night."
Cross replied, smiling.
Nightmare was content with the answer.
"Hm, good.."
He kissed the smallers hand.
"Then go make yourself pretty for me. Kay?"
He semi- teasingly said.
Cross chuckled.
"Okay, Nighty."
With that, he pulled the King into a quick kiss and left the office. Leaving the King to his own endeavors once again.
'I'm making the right choice'
He said in his head, smiling just thinking about the fluffy oreo.
Who would've thought the Embodiment of Negativity would fall for someone like Cross? Though it weakened him, he felt it would be worth it.

Cross looked around, the place where Nightmare teleported them too.
It was a restaurant. Again, Nightmare said he WAS NOT gonna PROPOSE in the restaurant. He didn't say he wasn't going to take his partner out to eat.
"Oh, Night, this looks expensive."
He turned to the taller.
"You even paid for a private booth."
Nightmare chuckled.
"Button, I have enough money to last me a lifetime, as I'm sure you should already know."
He rolled his eye.
They both shared a laugh and ordered their food, and as much as Nightmared hated the public - exactly why he even went out his way to Pay for a private booth - he knew he had to suck it up. This was for Cross.
Nightmare didn't order much as he doesn't eat alot of food, and it would be optional for him. Cross, on the other hand, had ordered quite the amount of tacos when he saw it was surprisingly on the menu.
He loves those damn tacos.

Once they were out of the restaurant, as expected, Nightmare paid for everything. Even though he didn't need to, with his demeanor and reputation, he thought just this once would suffice.
"Hey, Cross. Let me show you something."
Nightmare held his hand again.
Cross intertwined their hands and nodded.
Nightmare once again teleported them, this time, they were on top of a hill, away from the public eye.
The night sky looked amazing, and the view of the city below them was enchanting.
Cross admired every aspect of it. He was in awe.
The taller chuckled at his reaction, pulling him closer. Cross didn't object and cuddled up to his chest
"Night, this looks... beautiful."
"Would it be cliché if I said it isn't as beautiful as you?"
Cross laughed into the tallers chest.
"No, maybe not."
"Then no, it's not as beautiful as you."
Night replied, kissing his forehead.
"Just take a look at the sky."
Cross tilted his head confused.
"Just wait a moment."
And so Cross did. In 8 minutes or so, the night sky was brightly glowing.
Shooting stars gazing through the entire sky, giving it a nice golden tone.
Cross was amazed. His entire attention on the view above, he hadn't seen anything like this in years.
It was like supernova.
A couple more minutes passed by. The couple hasn't said a word.
Until Cross finally broke from his gaze from the Sky.
"Nightmare, this is---"
Cross turned around to face the other but cut himself off when he saw Nightmare on one knee, holding a small velvet box with a ring in the middle.
Nightmare gave him the most heartwarming smile as he took Cross' hand in his.
Cross couldn't believe this. He put a hand over his mouth in shock.
"Night..."
"Cross. I know we've been through alot, and their have been a few challenges here and there. But we overcame them."
Cross felt tears prick the corner of his eyes as the taller continued.
"I'm not perfect. But you gave me a chance, and I thank you for that.
Now if you could allow me the chance to hold you closer every day. I wanna ask you to marry me."
That's it. Nightmare finally asked
Cross had tears fall down his face, he didn't respond, he bent down slightly to pull the Dark Lord into a kiss. It was sweet and simple.
Once they pulled away, Cross couldn't break the smile on his face.
"Yes."
The smaller whispered.
To say both were beyond happy was an understatement.
Nightmare stood up, sliding the ring on his partners' finger and quickly bringing him into another kiss.
Cross wrapped his arms around the tallers neck as it deepened.
They parted. Nightmare wiping away some leftover tears from Cross' face, placing his forehead on his.
"I love you."
"I love you too, sweetheart."
Oh wait until the others hear about this one.
