Rachel leaving the glee club was something no one had expected, especially Ollie. Rachel loved the club and would talk his ear off not only about the club but about how he should join. He also knew that Rachel was not the type to just let her friends fall into a hole, and she would regret her decision. The New Directions were practicing “Don’t Stop Believing” in the choir room. Quinn took the lead as Rachel was unavailable but Ollie hoped this would mean that now some more of them got a chance to sing solo’s. The song almost reached the chorus when suddenly Quinn put a hand on her mouth retching as she quickly made her way out of the choir room.
"I think she just had a bad breakfast burrito." Finn quickly lied, trying to cover up Quinn's strange behavior.
"Can we please talk about the giant elephant in the room?" Kurt asked as he placed his hands on his hips.
"Your sexuality?" Santana quickly commented with a smile,”Or you and Ollie’s relationship?” she teased looking at Puck who’s body tensed
“San,” Ollie said softly but sternly, shaking his head. The two boys were going through what Ollie could only assume was a rough patch. Kurt barely spoke to him these days and it was so out of nowhere that Ollie could once again only assume it was because of him.
Ollie had noticed the boy seemed like he was scared to be around him and he had no clue why. The first few months of their friendship were awesome and Ollie felt like he had a safe space, and some part of him felt as if Kurt had felt the same. Now though, he wasn’t sure because Kurt was acting as if the past few weeks didn’t exist.
And that hurt more than Ollie let himself know.
Kurt looked annoyed at Santana, as she smiled at Ollie, mouthing sorry to him, and he continued as if she hadn't spoken. "Rachel. We can't do this without her."
"That's not true," Will sighed, though he did not sound very convinced, which was not reassuring at all. "We may have to layer Santana and Mercedes over Quinn's solo, but..we'll be fine."
“He’s right,” Ollie spoke up, earning their attention,”There are really other people in this club who can sing, ya know” his words gaining some nods
"Maybe for invitationals, we have some people who could steal the show," Artie conceded from his place next to the band, hugging his electric guitar close to his chest. "But not for sectionals and certainly not for regionals."
"The wheelchair kid's right." Puck agreed, giving Ollie a sympathetic look "That Rachel chick wants me wanna light myself on fire, but she can sing"
"Rachel left, guys. She's gone." Mr. Schue reminded them. "If we want to make this thing work, we can't look back. Alright, take five minutes."
With that everyone dispersed throughout the room, separating into different groups. Finn made his way to where Mr. Schuester was sitting as Mercedes made her way to Ollie who was staring off into space.
“Hey, you ok?” She asked the fashionista teen,”You’ve been moping for a week now”
“I uh,” Ollie sighed, glazing at Kurt who was conversing with Tina,”I’m fine. I just have a lot on my mind right now.” He told her while looking at her with a smile,”I’m just thinking of designs and some things I might have you model for me, but that’s it really.” He chuckled, thankful he could lie so well
“Alright,” Mercedes smiled at him, putting a hand on his shoulder,”You tell me if that changes, kay. And I’m excited to see what you got for me” She winked at him
Ollie sighed again as she walked away, glancing at Kurt who beamed at Mercedes as she sat next to him. Feeling tears prick his eyes, he quickly stood and walked out the room, the door slamming as he left.
