Ghost Buddy
Elrid looks at the trees looming over him. Big, green, dark and somewhat soothing.
It was Sunday, since he had nothing to do, Elrid decided to explore his surroundings-which by the way was a forest, after breakfast and his daily meditation.
Jumping over the fence, he strutted towards the trees, his hands inside the pockets of his dark blue hoodie. His sneakers crushing the fallen dry leaves. Elrid likes the crunch sound. The air was chilled, sprouting goosebumps around his pale skin as it blew at him. But he enjoyed the coldness nipping at him, so he walked, feeling the cold air and the soothing effect of nature as he skipped around the big dark trees, jumping over some fallen logs and kicking rocks and dirt. He liked the forest; he had read before that 70% of the River falls were full of forest and wildlife, especially wolves and bears.
Will I be able to see one, though?? Just a cute wolf kid.... what is it called? Pup? But when he thought about how they come in a pack and he can't fight a wolf as easily as he can defeat ghosts, Elrid quickly removed that idea. Guess I can watch them at the zoo...
He walked aimlessly, just feeling the positive and soothing energy from the atmosphere. Even though it was noon, only a small amount of sunlight filtered through the thickened leaves of the trees. Which gave the air a somewhat chilled yet warm feeling? When he felt his legs cramping, he walked over to a fallen log, squinting his eyes to check if there were any bugs or snakes on or under the log- he didn't want to crush them or better them to sneak inside his dress. When it was deemed clear, he plops down, body leaning backwards on the tree as he closed his eyes. he can feel the wind passing around him, soft and gentle, the rustling of leaves, voices of some birds.
It was peaceful, so quiet from the city's traffic sounds, people, and ghosts.... Yes ghosts.
Since he can remember, Elrid can feel.... energies, emotions and spirits or ghosts- sometimes they would just smile and pass by him without any intervention, like they knew he was just a kid, and he can't do anything to help them.
But sometimes they just don't leave him alone. They'll follow him, days, nights, even in his dreams.
When he complained about the unwanted people who visited him every night and day to his mom and dad, Jaemin thought the 6-year-old kid was talking about his imaginary friends- like all the kids had at that age. And Sylvia thought that Elrid inherited her outstanding imagination skills. Dumb, they both know that now. Every time they caught him yelling and talking, sometimes downright screaming, Jaemin and Sylvia thought he was throwing tantrums- quite a big tantrum.
It wasn't until Jaemin got a call from his son's school about something happening to their son, or your weird son is wreaking havoc, as the principal put it, that they understood something was going on with their son. When Sylvia and Jaemin rushed there, all students in Elrid's class, along with the teachers and principal, were standing outside the classroom- confusion, terror, and fear were etched on their faces. Some kids were wailing, others just standing there in utter terror.
Just as the principal saw them, he scrambled towards them, running his mouth a mile per minute. Jaemin didn't understand what the bald bastard was rambling, his hands flailing as his face contorted in fury, terror, confusion, and shock. But Sylvia caught a word on his panic-filled rant about his school's reputation and teachers leaving her baby alone.
Alone. Elrid is alone.
That's the only thought that struck her when she rushed to the class-pushing out the crowding kids and teachers. The sight inside the room left her speechless. The things inside the classroom-desk, chairs, books, papers, crayons, colour pencils, racks and bags- all were scattered around, like a tornado had just happened to be in the room. Sylvia frantically searched for her son- when he caught sight of him, her heart was crushed; an agonised sob left her pink lips.
