Callum Murphy on top...

                                                   The Beta

Spicy aroma of chicken and something else assaulted his nostrils as soon as Callum opened the front door of his house. His nostrils flared, sniffing out the heavenly smell of his mother, Fionna's cooking. Ah, pizza! Not being biased or anything, but, in his opinion, his mom makes the best food in this whole universe. And anyone who disagrees with his opinion can answer with his canine and claws. Yeah, mature... real mature. But it is what it is.

"y'know.... if you keep sniffing like that, the pizza's gonna stick on your nose...." Even though that rough voice was teasing, it was filled with fondness.

Callum's head snapped, his eyes sparkling as his lips stretched into a full-blown grin. The eucalyptus scent of his, wafting around them with a pleased undertone.

"You're back...." The redhead threw himself at his brother, his freckled cheeks slightly rubbing on Caleb's clothed chest as some rumbles and whimpers left his mouth. Caleb stood there, rubbing his brother's back in a soothing motion as he let his brother to scent him- an expected thing, considering he was away from his home and family for over week and wolves as a familial being needs affection and physical touch almost every minute of their life's; so, scenting is common among them- even if they're big and buff and a badass wolf.

"Well, the meeting wrapped up pretty early as Zander was in one of his moods." Nuzzling Callum's hair, Caleb says with a tired chuckle. Callum noticed the exhaustion rolling off his brother, and sometimes he felt bad for his brother as he knew how the meetings could test everyone's patience, with all the egotistical and belly-potting, good-for-nothing alphas' yelling and posturing.

And the meeting was indeed hell from what Caleb said. It was like every other meeting, everyone throwing words at each other like they were kids. Caleb trying to placate Zander's wolf from beheading someone just because the son of a piece wants.

Watching his older brother internally curse their father for pushing him to that meeting where he wasn't needed, Callum has only one thing to say: thank Goddess I'm not older

Even though the supernaturals are more open to suggestions and votes, every species mostly considers their own direct bloodline. Particularly werewolves. There's always an irrefutable hierarchy. It's always on a first-come, first-served basis. Or in this case, the oldest child. Unless the oldest kid is deemed unworthy by the elders or the alphas.

When Fionna called them for dinner after a few minutes, Callum saw his younger brother, Kellan, -another redhead, a feature both of them inherited from their father, unlike Caleb, who inherited his mother's eyes and hair- was already seated at the table, along with their father-Benjamin, the current Beta of their pack.

Benjamin Murphy was a tall man, standing at a height of 6'3 with an equally filled out body-suitable for a Beta and for a mate like Fionna, who was also a Beta in her former pack, until she got mated to Benjamin when they were like eighteen. His eyes were a stunning green- a captivating colour, similar to that of jade- and his perfectly combed light red hair without a single grey strand on view.

While Fionna Murphy, a fiery woman with an equally humble personality, stood at a height of 6'-quite tall for even almost all werewolf women. Even though she was fifty, she still looked in her early thirties, with her greyish eyes and dark, wavy hair. Lebi was the one who got all of her beauty genes. Talk about the superior werewolf's genes.
