Temptation

Note: Thank you to @imabeebcyes for this concept of being tempted by the dark side!

You and the squad are back on Pabu to relax for a while. You've been going on a lot of missions lately, and Hunter made the decision that all of you should take a break for a few days. It's early in the morning. You're standing on the balcony, watching the sea. You keep thinking of all your adventures as a Jedi. You remember your master and how many good times you had going on missions with them. Your thoughts are interrupted by you sensing Hunter's presence.
"What are you doing up this early?" He asks.
"I just wanted to look at the sea." You say. It's not completely a lie.
"I have a feeling there's more to it than just wanting to look at the sea." Hunter responds, walking closer to you.
You sigh. "I'm just... I'm confused. I'm not sure what's right anymore. During the Clone War, it used to be black and white. The Jedi and the Republic were good, and the Sith and Separatists were evil. Now it's all so confusing. Technically I broke the code, so I'm not a Jedi. Do I even follow the way of the Force anymore? Master Kenobi told all of us to trust in the Force, but I don't know if I should trust in the light side anymore."
Hunter holds both of your hands. "I... I'm not a Jedi, but if you're asking if you can trust in General Kenobi, I believe you should. General Skywalker told us all about him and how great of a Jedi he was. About breaking the code, I really doubt you're the only one who has broken it. There aren't many Jedi left, and I think in these times it's hard to be a traditional Jedi. You're doing amazing, Y/N."
You hug Hunter tightly. "I'm scared, Hunter. The reason I'm up so early is because I had a vision."
"It's okay, I'm here. I'm not leaving. Do you want to talk about the vision?" Hunter asks.
You nod and sit down at a table with him.

Hunter keeps holding your hand.
"The vision was where I was turned to the Dark Side." You start.
"You mean... you became a Sith?" Hunter asks.
"I think so. I'm not completely sure." You respond. "My lightsaber was red and I was killing Jedi. My friends. It was horrible."
"Were the rest of us there?" Hunter asks.
Tears start to form in your eyes. "No. That's what I'm scared about. I'm scared I'll go to the dark side and... I'll lose you. All of you."
"You won't lose us. We won't lose you. You're doing the right thing, Y/N. Technically you broke the code, but you're with us now. If you didn't, you and I wouldn't be together." Hunter says.
"The thing that scared me the most is that in my vision, I felt the most powerful I've ever felt in my life. I felt like I could do anything. I didn't feel any remorse. I just did what I needed to do." You start to cry a little.
Hunter doesn't say anything. He looks at you with a concerned facial expression and wipes the tears on your face.
"I'm just... I'm so angry." You continue. "My friends who I had known for years were killed, and now I have a vision where I'm killing more of them? I hate the Sith. I want to destroy them."
"I know, love. I can't imagine what you're feeling right now. I'm so sorry. What can I do to help?" Hunter responds.
"I need to find a way to destroy them... destroy them all. I could join and sabotage them." You say.
"Y/N, think this through." Hunter pleads.
You put your face in your hands. "I... I miss them."
"I know, sweetheart. C'mon. Let's take a walk." Hunter says, standing up.

You two walk along the shore. You remember all your missions on aquatic planets as you look at the water.
"I know it's not the same, but in a way, all of us clones are tempted by the dark side. Many of us gave into the "dark side" by letting our inhibitor chips control us, but some of us are able to overcome it. People like us." Hunter says.
"It's not the same, Hunter. You have it easy. You can just remove your temptation at any moment. I have to constantly be aware of my thoughts and feelings." You say, looking away from him.
"You're the strongest person I've ever met, Y/N. I know you know what is right. You can resist the temptation. You've been doing it all this time." Hunter says firmly.
"You're right. I'm being tricked. I can't give in." You realize.
You get an idea. "Do you mind if I meditate for a little bit?"
"I don't mind at all." Hunter smiles.
"Thank you. I'll be back soon." You say.
You walk over to a quiet spot in a patch of trees and sit down. You close your eyes and take a deep breath in.
"Show me the dark side. I will overcome it." You say.

You start to see a vision of losing Hunter and the rest of the squad.
"I'm not afraid." You say sternly.
The visions start to get worse. They're scary, but you try to remember what Hunter said to you.
"I'm not afraid." You repeat.
You start to hear voices in your visions that are trying to get you to turn to the dark side.
"I'm not going to give in." You say.
You continue to resist the temptation to give into the dark side. It's difficult, but you know that you're strong enough to do it. After a while, the visions and voices start to go away. You open your eyes. You feel much calmer, and more at peace with yourself. You've been trying to get rid of the voices for a while now, but today was the day it finally worked (or you think, at least). You walk over to where you and Hunter were earlier. He's not there, but you see him in the distance talking with the rest of the squad. You run over to him.
"Feeling better?" Hunter asks.
"I'm perfect." You say.
"Let's go get some food. Especially you, Y/N. You've had a long day." Hunter says.
"Sounds good to me!" Wrecker exclaims.

Everyone except you and Hunter sits down to eat some food. You stop Hunter before he sits down.
"I'm sorry for ruining our relaxing day..." You say quietly.
"You didn't. I promise. I'm really glad you told me about your visions, and now you don't have to keep worrying about them." Hunter reassures you.
"I just feel like there's always something with me. I'm always bothering you with one of my problems." You say, feeling guilty.
"Y/N, you will never bother me. I promise." He smiles.
The two of you sit down next to each other at the table.
"This is so much better than rations!" Wrecker says after eating some of the food.
"You say that every time." Echo reminds him.
"I'm not wrong." Wrecker responds.
You take a bite of a meiloorun. "I agree with Wrecker."
"See? She gets it. You just don't appreciate it, Echo." Wrecker laughs.
Echo rolls his eyes.
Once you and Hunter finish eating, he gestures for you to follow him.

Hunter leads you to the room you two are staying in and lays down on the bed.
"I figured we could use some time to rest." He says. "Or I could, at least. Just some time away from everyone else but you."
You laugh a little. "I guess if you're the leader of the squad all the time, it makes sense."
"I'm never really tired of you, though." He smiles.
You lay down next to him.
"I love you, Hunter." You say.
"I love you too, Y/N. Always."
