Hunter's Surprise

Summary: Hunter has a big surprise for you...

     You and the squad are still on Pabu. It's around 4:00 PM. The sun is shining brightly as you stand outside the Marauder near the place where Crosshair practices shooting his rifle. You haven't seen Hunter all day, so you decide to find Omega and ask her about it. You find her next to Crosshair as Crosshair is practicing shooting his rifle at some targets. 

"Oh- Hey, Y/N." Omega greets you with a chipper smile.

"Hey, Omega." You respond, sitting down next to her. "Have you seen Hunter?"

Omega nods. "He's helping Shep with some things to help Pabu."

"Maybe I'll go catch up with him since I haven't seen him today." You say, standing up.

"Wait!" Omega interrupts, touching your arm. "Could you actually go get some more fruit for Crosshair to shoot at?"

"Sure." You agree, starting to walk towards the trees.

You find a variety of trees in one of Pabu's lush, green forest areas. You reach up and pick five fruits, thinking it should be enough for Crosshair.

     You go back to where Omega and Crosshair were. 

"Where do you want these?" You ask Crosshair.

Crosshair points just up ahead to some rocks. "There. AZI should be able to do it."

"There's no need." You say, using the Force to lift the fruits to the rocks, positioning them in a line.

Crosshair sighs. "Oh, right. I forgot. You're a Jedi."

     You watch closely as Crosshair takes his aim at the fruits you put on the rocks. You look at his right hand; it's clearly shaking. You watch him shake it briefly before re-adjusting his aim and taking the shot, missing the first fruit. Crosshair then adjusts his aim for the second fruit by aiming his rifle to the right. The shot hits this time. Crosshair continues to aim and then fire at the fruits in a line.

Omega smiles at Crosshair. "You did better that time."

"Better isn't good enough." Crosshair says with frustration.

"I don't know if it's my place to comment here, but..." You add in, looking out at the water. "You don't have to be perfect."

"But... I was." Crosshair sighs.

You give him a reassuring smile. "It'll get better."

Suddenly, you hear your comlink beep and the voice of Wrecker. "Hey, Y/N. Can I get your help with something?"

"Of course. Where are you?"

"I'm on the second level of the island." 

"Alright. I'll head over there soon."

You wave to Crosshair and Omega as you go to the second level of Pabu's island.

     After a brief period of searching for Wrecker, you find him by a new home that seems to be in the process of being built. He's staring at the home-in-progress. You notice that it doesn't have a roof. 

"We finished the base of the house, but we need to add the roof. I would normally say I could lift it, but it's too high. Do you think you could help?" Wrecker asks.

"Yeah." You say. 

     You turn towards the already built roof for the house and use the Force to lift it up. It's not easy; you can see that it would be a challenge for anyone to lift, even Wrecker. Using your strength, both physical and mental, you manage to lift the roof on to the top of the house. Wrecker and the others clap for you once you do so.

"Thanks, Y/N." Wrecker smiles. 

"Anytime."

You hear your comlink beep again, but this time you hear Echo's voice. "Tech and I could use another hand on the Marauder. It's been having some issues."

"I'll be right there." You respond.

How many people need my help today? You wonder.

     As you walk to the Marauder, you can help but be a little confused about how your day has gone so far. Typically, your days on Pabu aren't as eventful and busy as this. You also haven't seen Hunter all day which is unusual. Walking up the ramp on the Marauder, you see Echo wave to you, a wrench in his hand.

"How can I help?" You ask.

"Tech and I are going to try and turn on the engines and see if they work. They've been acting up since we got shot at last mission. We need someone to stand near the engines outside the ship and let us know if they're turning on."

"Got it." You say, walking to the engines.

You wait a few moments for Tech and Echo to attempt to turn on the engines. 

"Is it working?" You hear Tech's voice on your comlink.

"No." You respond.

After another few moments, you see the engines turn on. 

"How about now?" Echo asks over your comms.

"It's working." You respond.

After they turn the engines back off, you head back to Echo and Tech.

"Anything else you need?" You ask.

"Nope. We appreciate it, Y/N." Echo replies.

     You turn around as you sense Omega and Crosshair boarding the Marauder. Omega runs up the ramp and over to you, Tech, and Echo, grinning. 

"Y/N, Echo, Tech! I have to show you something!" 

You notice that Omega is nearly bouncing up and down. She looks like she can hardly contain her excitement. Crosshair walks up the ramp and stands behind her.

"Uh, okay..?" You respond, following her.

Tech and Echo follow behind you. Omega is running towards the second level of Pabu. 

"C'mon, we have to get Wrecker, too!" Omega says.

The rest of you are far behind Omega. 

"Slow down, kid." Crosshair calls out.

Omega slows her pace briefly, but then starts running towards Wrecker again. 

Crosshair sighs. "Why do I even bother..."

     Omega leads all of you to the home where you helped out Wrecker earlier. Wrecker's face lights up when he sees Omega, and you notice him get excited without saying anything. 

"Should we be concerned?" You ask the rest of the group.

Echo laughs. "It's probably nothing."

Both Omega and Wrecker start running again up the various levels of the island. 

"Where are we going?" You ask.

"To the top!" Wrecker responds.

You all finally stop running once all of you reach the top of the island. This area is beautiful; it's filled with tall, green, trees and various species of flowers. After a little while of following Omega and Wrecker, you see a familiar place in a clearing of the forest area. 

"Hunter?"

     Hunter says nothing in response to you, just smiling. 

"What's going on?" You ask.

Hunter walks closer to you, taking both of your hands. You feel Crosshair pushing you forwards towards Hunter.

"Y/N. My love." Hunter begins. "I... I never thought that I would be so lucky to be able to be with such an amazing woman like you. You're intelligent, beautiful, empathetic, strong... I'll stop myself, because I could truly go on and on about you until the end of time itself. You've stuck with me throughout all of the hardship we've faced. I love you so much, Y/N, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

You watch as Hunter lets go of your hands, getting down on one knee and opening a small box with a ring inside of it. "Y/N L/N, will you marry me?"

Tears of joy fill your eyes as Hunter proposes to you. "Yes! Of course, I'll marry you!" 

Hunter gets back up and kisses you. You turn around to the rest of the squad. Everyone looks so happy for you; you even catch Crosshair smiling. Wrecker is sobbing loudly while Echo pats him on the back.

"Let's go celebrate. Shep has prepared a wonderful dinner for all of us." Hunter says, taking one of your hands. 

You and your fiancé walk towards the dinner table on one of the lower levels of the island. 

"I love you, Hunter."

Hunter beams at you. "I love you too, Y/N."
