Turning the Tides

Summary: The Bad Batch get some intel from Rex about an Imperial superweapon that has dangerous capabilities and decide to infiltrate the Imperial base where it's being made.

     You and the squad are sitting together in the common area of the Marauder. A few minutes ago, Hunter told all of you he wanted to talk with you, so you're all waiting for him. Hunter walks in, a demure look on his face. 

Standing in front of all of you, he states, "Rex just gave us some intel. One of the larger Imperial bases is currently building some sort of 'superweapon' that has the potential to destroy entire cities in seconds. We're going to try and destroy it."

"Where's the base?" You ask.

"Corellia. We'll leave soon."

Tech stands up, moving to his usual spot in the cockpit. He enters the coordinates for Corellia on the star-map to plan a route. 

"We will arrive on Corellia in a few hours." Tech states.

Everyone returns to what they were doing before the meeting Hunter called. You go to Hunter's room to try and relax before the mission.

     Hunter walks into the room and sits down on the bed next to you, placing his arm around your shoulder. 

He laughs a little, trying to lighten the mood. "I'm sorry about the mission. I know this is the last thing both of us want to be doing after getting engaged."

You smile. "It's alright, Hunter. It's good to know that we're helping to stop this superweapon from being finished."

"When we're done with this mission, I'll take you out on an amazing date. I promise."

You lean on his shoulder. "You're too sweet."

You pause for a moment before speaking again. "Hunter?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think our wedding will really happen? I'm just worried because the Empire is always after us..."

Hunter smiles, reassuring you. "It'll happen. I know it will."

     As you all are around 30 minutes away from Corellia, Hunter calls everyone to the common area of the Marauder again. 

Hunter shows all of you a hologram of the base. "Let's go over the plan. Instead of entering through the side entrances on the ground, we'll enter through the various entrances on the roof. According to Rex, those are the least guarded entrances."

He points to one of the hatches on the roof. "Y/N and I will enter through this entrance."

He points to various other hatches. "Wrecker and Omega will enter here, and Crosshair, Tech, and Echo will enter here." 

Hunter looks around at all of you. "This mission is dangerous. We need to be extra careful, because this mission has the potential to reveal our location. The Empire could start tracking us."

"We'll be careful." Omega reassures him.

Hunter smiles. "Good. We're a family, and I won't let anything happen to any of you."

     The sky of Corellia is gray and filled with smoke. It's exactly what you were expecting: an Imperial shipyard. When the Jedi Order was still around, you went on a few missions on Corellia. It seems even more cluttered with machinery and industrialization than before. Everyone gets their gear on, and you make sure you have your lightsaber with you. You're the first one to leave the ship. Tech leaves next, his eyes glued to his datapad. You look over and see that he's looking at the location of the base. Everyone else leaves the ship.

"Ready?" Hunter asks.

Everyone nods. 

     All of you follow Tech to the base. It'll be a long walk; Tech purposefully landed the Marauder far from the Imperial base so they wouldn't expect your presence. As you walk, you can't seem to shake the feeling that there is more to this 'superweapon' and Imperial base than you were told. You aren't alone in that feeling; you can sense the same feelings in the rest of the squad. Hunter seems to pick up on your anxiety. He squeezes your hand to reassure you. 

All of you see the base in the distance. "Hunter, you never told us how we're going to enter through the hatches on the roof." Crosshair tells him.

"We'll improvise." Hunter responds.

Crosshair sighs. 

"Don't act like you don't like being back with the squad." Hunter teases him.

You all stop and hide in some bushes outside of the base. 

"I'll distract them." You whisper. "Besides, I don't need a grappling hook to get on top of the roof."

"No. We won't leave you behind." Hunter whispers. 

You look him in the eyes. "Hunter, I'll meet you there in few minutes. I promise."

"Alright. I trust you."

     You walk up to the patrolling soldiers. 

"Hey! You aren't authorized to be here." One of them says. 

"Oh! I must have followed the directions wrong. Let me just get them out..." You say.

You reach for your lightsaber and take it out. 

"A Jedi!" Another one of the guards says, shooting at you.

     You use your lightsaber to block the shots from the soldiers. You can't safely look behind you, but you think that the rest of the squad has used your distraction to scale the wall with their grappling hooks and enter through the hatches on the roof. Once you deal with the soldiers, you use the Force to Force-jump on to the roof. You open the hatch that Hunter told you to go in and climb down the ladder. The ladder leads to some sort of storage room. Hunter is waiting there.

He sighs in relief. "You made it." 

"Was there ever any doubt?" You laugh.

     The superweapon is controlled by multiple systems in three different locations throughout the base, so Hunter split you all in three groups for that reason. You and Hunter are in charge of destroying the first set of controls in the South control center. Everyone will need to get to their locations and wait for the others before destroying their set of controls. 

"Ready?" Hunter asks you as you two are about to leave the storage room.

You hesitate before answering. Normally, you're completely calm during missions, but this one feels different. "Yeah. I'm ready."

Hunter opens the door, and you two carefully make your way down the hallway, taking the opportunity to hide behind every place you can. 

"Hunter and I are heading to the South control room." You tell the others on your comlink. 

The others tell you that they are making their way towards their designated control rooms. You and Hunter stun some guards as you run down the hallways.

     You and Hunter finally make your way into the South control room. 

"Alright, Tech," Hunter says over his comlink. "How do we destroy this?"

"Place the explosive on the bottom of the set of controls for the superweapon."

Hunter places the explosive as Tech instructs him. "Alright. Done. Do the rest of you have yours set?"

The others respond by saying yes. Tech tells all of you to press the button to begin to detonate the explosives.

"Now, run." Tech tells all of you.

     You and Hunter run out of the South control room as fast as you can. You assume that everyone is doing the same. You hope that all of you will get out of this alive, but you can't shake the feeling that something bad will happen. You and Hunter find the nearest exit and push the door open, running into the grass. Your anxious feelings diminish as you see the rest of the squad running out of the other entrances. 

"Meet at the Marauder." Hunter says over his comlink.

     All of you are gasping for air as you meet on the Marauder. Tech quickly flies the ship off the ground and sets the course for hyperspace. Hunter sits down next to you, holding your hand. He looks over at everyone. 

"We just helped turn the tides of the war. Good work, everyone." He tells all of you.

Hunter turns to you. "And you... that distraction was badass."

"It was nothing." 

"I'm serious. That was amazing."

"I think all of us were being badass." You laugh. "We literally just ran out of a building that was exploding behind us."

Hunter smiles. "That's Clone Force 99..."
