her brown eyes met green eyes staring at her in confusion. breaking eye contact, she scanned her eyes over his appearance.

he was an attractive lad around sixteen or seventeen, with short brown hair and green eyes. he was tall, maybe 6"2 or 6"3. he was lanky, yet he had a fair amount of muscle to him. he carried a spear in his hand, yet didn't hold it in a threatening way.

moving her eyes back up to his, she realised he had now drawn his eyebrows together in confusion. he began walking towards her, and like she did with the blonde boy she began stepping back.

unluckily for her, she was beside the lake and could only take two steps before she was forced to stop by the water. the boy infront of her didn't stop, and instead carried on approaching her until he was less that a metre away.

he eyed her bow and arrow, which while it was still angled at the floor, the string was taut and ready to release the arrow at any moment. his eyes then moved to her water bottle that was still on the rock.

"who are you?" his voice took her by surprise, as he raised his eyes to meet hers again.

she ignored him, raising an eyebrow. he scowled at this, "what's your name?"

"i don't see how that's your concern." maybe she was being abit hostile, but she didn't know the lad and he was the one who cornered her at the lake and started questioning her.

"it's not. i'm just wondering." he took another step closer.

"well stop wondering." she wished he would stop nearing her, she was beginning to grow nervous as she still didnt know his intentions.

"no can do, darling." his patrionising tone pissed her off, enough so that she moved past him and barged her shoulder into his as she did so. she moved her hand, letting the string of the bow go loose and returned the arrow to the quiver. she turned back to grab her water bottle, stuffing it into her bag and moving away.

she'd barely moved five steps before he appeared infront of her once more. "i'm sorry."

raising her eyebrow, he continued. "i didn't mean to be pushy, i just want to know your name."

"no."

"i'm marvel sanford." he said with a bright smile, her heart beginning to race. he held out his large hand, wanting her to shake it. still, she didn't.

she tried moving again, but he just grabbed her arm. his grip wasn't harsh, but she still turned to glare at him. in response, he pulled her closer to himself.

"tell me your name," he whispered into her ear, sending shivers down her spine. however, she quickly came to her senses and shoved him away.

"i dont even know you, you're disgusting. don't ever touch me like that again." his expression was mock hurt, and once again she turned away.

before she began walking though, she said loud enough for him to hear "acacia briar."

her words must have given him a surge of confidence, because in less than a moment he'd moved from his spot where she'd pushed him off to beside her with his arm around her. "that's a nice name."

she pushed his arm off and rolled her eyes, but didn't stop him from walking alongside her. maybe it wasn't so bad that she had someone with her, atleast until she found out what was going on.

he looked down at her sleeve, seeing the seven (something that she'd only just realised was stitched on her shirt) and turned back to her. "you're not from district one."
