the whistling of the harsh wind met her ears, waking her from her deep, sleepless slumber.

opening her eyes, her vision was met by tall, intimidating oak trees surrounding her. thinking that she was still dreaming, she blinked her eyes, once, twice. no, still there.

acacia moved her hand, which she now realised had been sat upon a pile of wet leaves, and pinched her arm. still, nothing changed.

she sat up, looking around at her surroundings. she figured she was in some type of woods, but not any in district 7. the woods in her district had a certain look about them, a look these woods did not have.

pulling herself to her feet, she cautiously took steps towards the green lump a few metres away. she realised it was some type of clothing, and reached her hand out to pick it up.

holding it up, she noticed it to be a green jacket and underneath it was a pair of black walking shoes. she realised that she already had on comfy pants and a green shirt, so she slipped the jacket on and sat down to pull the shoes on.

while the second boot was halfway on, she heard the sound of leaves crunching nearby. standing up quickly, she ducked behind a tree, concealing herself from whatever was making the noise.

she peered out, spotting a stocky built blonde boy walking towards her clearing. he made no effort to be stealthy, his loud footsteps giving his position away.

he held no weapon, nothing he could harm her with, however he didn't look weak. if it came down to physical fight, he would overpower her easily.

only when he got to the clearing did she realise that she had left her boot behind in the hurry to conceal herself, spotting it just as he did.

he walked closer, reaching his hand out to inspect it when she decided that enough is enough.

moving so he could see her, she gave away her presence. "that's mine."

he visibly jumped out her voice, snatching his hand away quickly and spinning to look at her. now she had a good look at him, she saw his kind eyes and soft features giving him a friendly look about him. "i'm sorry, i didnt realise."

he took a step towards her, but stopped when she took a step back. "who are you?"

her silence only edged him on, "look i'm not going to hurt you , i just want to know your name."

his words angered her, he seemed to be treating her as if she was weak and vulnerable. "why do you need to know my name, i don't even know you!" she snapped back.

"Peeta Mellark, the bakers son." he said, holding his hand out for her to shake.

ignoring his hand, "the bakers son? what baker?"

"Zander Mellark?"

"doesnt ring a bell."

sighing, "well what's your name then?"

hesitantly, "Acacia Briar"

he seems deep in thought for a moment, "how come i've never seen you? i know nearly everyone in district 12."

his words caused panic within her, "district 12?"

his eyes widen at her words, "you're not from district 12?"

"i'm from district 7!"

he stops short, not knowing what to say to that. "oh."

she walks forward, moving around him, and picking up her boot and sliding it on. "i'm going to go and find out what the actual fuck is going on."
