Raven looked straight into his eyes with a sort of sharpness in them. Lukas bit his lip, gulping nervously. Raven's eyes then softened.
"I.... can't say I was a little bit hurt. But... who am I to just be mad at you?" He smiled softly. "You're my best friend. We might bicker a lot, but I don't think I'll actually be mad at you— wow, that sounds cheesy."
Lukas pouted. "You're too nice for your own good. You should try being a shitty friend like me."
Raven laughed.
"Maybe. You're not such a bad friend though. Oh wait, Luke! Don't swear!"
Lukas chuckled.
"I try not to. It just slips out sometimes."
Raven sighed, shaking his head. "Eun-sun's starting to scold me for cursing— and it's all because of your shitty— eh, bad influence."
Lukas' eyes widened.
"Daaaamn, never thought I'd hear a profanity from you!" Lukas whistled.
Raven grinned lopsided. "Your fault."
"My fault." Lukas agreed. "My mom swearing led to me swearing, which then led to you swearing. But trust me, I didn't know swear words were a thing till I became twelve."
Raven shook his head again. "Swearing since you were twelve. You should make that a shirt. 'I was cursing profanities since I was twelve years old', in fine print. Or big, bold letters. That works too."
Lukas laughed.
"You are an amazing friend. You know just how to make me laugh. How do you do that?" He asked.
"I just do. Perks of being friends with you for ten years." Raven laughed.
He held out his arms. "Best friend hug?"
And Lukas dove right in.
Raven wrapped his arms around Lukas, and the latter soaked in the warmth.
He also couldn't help but notice how Raven smelled like vanilla icing with hints of cherry.
"What cologne do you use? Wait no, this smells too soft for that. Shampoo? Body soap?" Lukas asked, pulling away.
Raven wrinkled his nose. "You're smelling me?"
"Wha— no! I— okay, that did sound so wrong in so many ways, but, I didn't mean it like that! You smell so good— okay now that sounds even worse." Lukas groaned, burying his face in his hands.
Raven patted his shoulder. "Nah, it's fine. I use non-scent shampoo and soap. So it's probably my lotion. Why? What do you smell?" He asked, sniffing his arm.
"Vanilla and cherry." Lukas shrugged.
He glanced at the clock by the wall— shaped like a black moose head, so it was probably Raven who had picked it out.
His eyes widened. "Fuck!"
It was already 7:30 p.m.
My mom is going to KILL me and stick my head on a pole, and then attach it to the roof. Oddly specific, I KNOW.
Lukas jumped up to his feet immediately.
"Gottagobye!" Lukas shouted, rushing out.
"Bye, loser!" Raven called out after him.
"The only loser here is you, no offense!" Lukas said back, as he shoved his shoes on.
"You sure you don't need a ride? I can deal with Eun-sun hyung." Raven poked his head out from the living room area.
"No, don't worry about me! Visit my grave a lot!" Lukas said, rushing out the door, fumbling to tie his shoelaces.
"Should I be worried?" Was what he heard Raven call out as he shut the door.
Probably yeah. Lukas grimaced, as he practically sprinted down the street.
