A/N: whew, I posted a lot today!
Raven's house (read: mansion) was only three blocks away from Lukas' home. However, their school was miles away, which was why Lukas opted to hitch a ride with Raven when they went home, almost every single day.
It was either Raven dropped Lukas off at his own house, went to do projects with him at his house, or drove him over to his house.
Why ride the bus when you have your own personal chauffeur best friend? And c'mon, you can't blame him for wanting to ride in a Porsche.
Huffing and puffing, Lukas made it to his house in one piece (he did stop a couple times to catch his breath). Sadly... His mom's bright blue minivan was already parked in the driveway.
"Oh sh— mushrooms." He self-censored himself, clambering up the driveway and cautiously unlocking the front door.
"Hello...? Mom?" He called out. He took off the bright blue windbreaker he was wearing— it was Raven's, yes— and folded it up to bring back to his friend tomorrow. Luckily tomorrow was a Friday. The weekends were close!
Lukas blinked, trying to focus on the fact that his mother might be lurking around somewhere in the house, waiting to ambush him.
He shuffled into he small kitchen. Unlike Raven's, his house did not in fact have a multi-area, industrial stove or a large space, or even a fridge that made ice and water available.
And his house was neither four-fucking-stories tall, nor lavishing. But it was home. Oddly though, Raven's house was starting to kinda feel like his second home.
NOT the time to think about houses! Mom's probably ready to kill me! He reminded himself.
Lukas grabbed the filter-water jug from the table and poured himself some lukewarm water. The Sprite, Raven had generously given him had been drained from the can on his run to his house.
And he was still thirsty. Sprite was not a good choice for drink when running, note to self.
A shuffle behind him made him turn again. A short woman with wavy brown hair and fierce eyes stared at him.
"Oh, heeeey Mom." Lukas smiled awkwardly.
"Haben Sie das ernst?" His mom was German (and he was too!), so she preferred to speak her mother tongue most of the time.
Lukas was born in Germany, but his mom and him had moved to the U.S when he was four, so he didn't exactly remember a lot of the language. He had to take a second to process and translate in his head.
"...Am I serious? Um, I think I am?" He tried.
