Loose Ends

You drive to your apartment so you can wait till the evening. Suddenly, you get a call from Lucy.

Lucy:"I found something about your psycho's family."

You:"what is it?"

Lucy:"his mom runs a restaurant downtown."

You:"send me the address and I'll make my way there."

She sends you the restaurant's address and you start heading downtown. You eventually stop at a small Japanese noodle shop.

You: this must be the place.

You get out of your car and walk to the restaurant's entrance. You step inside and sit down.

Woman: she comes up to you "Nani shimashu-ka?"

You:"what did you say?"

Woman:"Nani shimashu-ka?!"

You: I can't understand her.

Encyclopedia: she's speaking Japanese.

A man turns to you annoyed.

Man:"she's asking what do you want."

You:"oh. I want to speak to the owner!"

Man:"keep your voice down. I'll speak to her."

He speaks to the woman in Japanese.

Woman:"Takahashi-san!"

An older woman comes from the kitchen.

Takahashi:"what do you want?"

You:"hello ma'am. I need to talk to you."

Takahashi:"why what happened?"

You:"it's about your son."

Takahashi:"not here. Follow me."

She leads you to the roof of her building.

Takahashi:"what about my son?"

You(empathy):"I'm sorry but he's dead."

Takahashi(empathy): you can see her about to cry.

Takahashi:"I knew this day would come. How did he die?"

You:"I'm sorry but..." I can't tell her.

Logic: she knew her son was going to die anyway. Just tell her the truth.

Empathy: but do you want to tell a mother you killed her son. And in the way you did it and how you did it. Do you really want to say anything?

You:"... I killed him."

Takahashi:"is that all you came here to say?"

You:"I wish it was. But I came here to ask questions."

Takahashi:"are you a cop?"

You:"no I'm a private investigator."

Takahashi:"what would a private dick want with my son?"

You:"he may be part of the case I'm working on."

Takahashi:"I knew he was part of that street gang but what else is he a part of?"

You:"I don't know but I still need to ask you some questions."

Takahashi:"sure what do you need me to answer?"

You took out your journal.

You:"has your son had any liver surgery?"

Takahashi:"yes he had. A while back he was diagnosed with liver cancer."

You:"and when was this diagnosis?"
