I had my backpack hung over one shoulder, walking towards the school parking lot and definitely ditching detention.
"Sel, you sure you don't want to go? It's just an hour." Cam tried convincing me.
"Yeah Selena. We could paint our nails and shyt." Kevin leaned on Cam's shoulder. Tag teaming me.
"No thanks guys. You paint them nails. I have a dance class to head to." I replied.
"I'll drive you there." Cam offered immediately.
"Thanks. But you go to your detention big boy. I'll be fine." I smiled showing that I was fine, and turned my heels walking to the parking lot.
Honestly getting to my dancing class was a problem. It usually took about 2 hrs to get there. I was sure as heck I wasn't going to take the bus, for 2 hours.
Just right then, I saw Brooklyn entering his Lamborghini.
"Hey Brook." I ran towards him, waving him down.
His tousled hair became even messier when he ran his finger through it. He rolled his eyes, entered car and shut the door.
Damn, did I feel like kicking him in the shins.
I knocked on his window, begging him to wind it down.
He took another quick glance at me before winding it down. "What?" His deep voice sounded intimidating.
"I need a ride to my dance class."
He rolled his window back up, and started the engine.
Oh give me a break. I knocked on his window pleadingly.
"Go ask your boyfriend to fetch you." He winded the window down again.
"He's in detention." I answered.
"That's right! And you know why?" He finally smiled.
I shook my head.
"Because of your annoying ass." Did he just mock with sarcasm.
"Just this once. Please. Or else I'm going to be late." I was serious this time. Did he need me to get down on my knees and beg.
"Get in." He dreadfully agreed.
I ran to the passenger seat and buckled myself in. I turned the stereo to my favorite pop station and he snapped at me again.
"Do I look like I like you to touch my music." He changed it to some electric rock band.
"Sorry." Changing the radio had become a habit because of Cameron.
"Good. Now say it again. You still owe me a sorry from your little match making project in class earlier." He huffed.
"Come on. You and Taylor look amazing together." I knew I was going to get one heck of a backlashing. But I guess it couldn't hurt to try.
He growled in response. "I don't date. I don't do the whole relationship thing. I'm a player, and I like it to stay that way."
"But she's totally in to you." I lied.
"Isn't everyone." And flashed his fake smile again.
Other than Brooklyn's money and devilish looks. I really don't understand why girls go crazy for him. He's a total ill mannered brute, a grumpy troll, and all around bad boy. But what I heard from Cameron, he only treats girls and people he dislikes like this. If rumor has it right, he is actually bearable and treats Kevin and Cam like brothers.
Since I wasn't getting anywhere with Brooklyn, I guess I had to manipulate Taylor next. She should be much more easier to trick than Brook.
***
I got off Brooklyn's car feeling nauseous. He speed so fast that I swear he slept under a pile of road tickets.
I stepped in the dance studio feeling light headed. I walked to the receptionist and flashed her my dancer member card. I was a very old member here, everyone here knew my parents, a bit too well that they'd called them if I missed a lesson.
I placed my bag in the locker and pulled out my ballet gear. I brought my dancing bag into the dance studio, and neatly pulled my hair into a bun. I tied up my ballet shoes, and turned on some classical music for warm up.
Unlike others, I loved to warm up. It was the only time I was free to express myself. I could dance my own style, be myself while dancing. But when the teacher came, everything was choreographed her way.
Dancing was when I was in a world of my own. No one existed only me. I twirled and leaped, spun and pirouette. Dancing was my passion, despite all the competitions, I still enjoyed it.
"Selena!" I heard my teacher yelled my name with her thick French accent. Causing me to loose balance in one of my twirls.
"Morning Madam." I greeted.
"Next competition is just around the corner. I sleep on a bed of gold medals. So you better prepare to practice till your bone breaks." She warned.
I sighed, and began to follow the usual routine.
Despite the crazy dance teacher, strict rules, tight schedules, I'd still choose this over joining Taylor's cheer team any day.
Just thinking about my schedule made me feel guilty. When was I going to break the news to Cam.
