Guy Germaine POV:

I walked upstairs and to my room. How could I be so clueless. She was always my voice of reason. Usually I hated it, but she really just saved my ass. If Connie had found out that she and I slept in the same room, she would not trust me at all. I didn't want that to happen. She was already insecure about Indie and I, I didn't wanna give her more of a reason not to trust me. I felt weird that whole night. I felt guilty. I hurt her a lot and no one ever taught her the right way to express it.

I laid in my bed and closed my eyes but couldn't sleep. I didn't know what this meant for us. Did it just mean we were civil, were we friends again? I don't know.

——

I couldn't stop thinking about our talk for weeks. Practice was less awkward. Well, kind of. We didn't talk that much or anything, but, it didn't feel like we hated eachother anymore. There wasn't anymore dirty looks, no more tension. It was peaceful. Let's just say being able to communicate on the ice with no retaliation because of our past was one of the best things to come out of this, because at our next game we were able to work together to score multiple goals and win. Everyone was so excited to face the hawks. Well, everyone except Indie. She was not excited to face her old team, understandably.

The team, once again, went out to celebrate at Mickeys. The team loudly quacked as we walked to the diner. Everyone was getting along. For the most part. Jesse still had a problem with Adam, but lightened up on Indie. We walked into the diner and we're greeted by Casey.

"The whole team here? That must only mean one thing." Casey smiled and the team cheered. "Congratulations, go take a seat over in thoes booths."

I sat in a booth with Connie, Charlie, and Fulton, and Indie,Adam, Averman, and Goldberg were on the other side. Indie had Adam on her left and the other two on her right. Connie put her head on my shoulder and held my hand. Indie looked at us, raised her eyebrows and gave a menacing smile.

"I can't wait to crush the hawks." Fulton cheered.

"It's gonna be so satisfying to see the look on their nasty faces when we beat them." Connie added.

"Forget about the players," Indie said. "I can't wait to see the look on coach Reilly's face when his team loses for once." She smiled to herself as Adam nodded, agreeing with what she said.

"Do you think they'll play dirty?" Charlie asked Indie and Adam.

They both looked at eachother before saying, simultaneously "Definitely."

"Oh great, way to be optimistic guys." Averman said in defeat.

"Did you want us to lie?" She asked. "They're a dirty team, and they'll definitely play dirtier since Adam and I are on the team."

"Exciting." Goldberg said un enthusiastically.

All the talk about the Hawks game seemed to be making Indie all nervous. I kept glancing over at her, only to see her picking at her hands. Adam kept giving her a look, but she kept shrugging him off. Adam and her seemed to be able to communicate using only their eyes. It was weird. Telepathic, almost.

"I can't believe our team has made it this far." Connie said in awe.

"I can't either." Charlie agreed. "I mean, a few months ago we didn't even have proper gear, and now we're about to go up the best team in the league."

"Not to mention, Coach doesn't hate us anymore." Averman added.

"What'd you mean?" Indie asked.

"Let's just say: Bombay was less than excited to be coaching us." Goldberg explained. "Even more so, when he found out we sucked."

"Wow, I can't imagine coach being like that." Indie said in disbelief.

"Yeah, well not every one was blessed with a good coach like you were." Connie said to Indie.

"A good coach? You kidding right?" She asked annoyed. "He was not a good coach. He hated me."

"He did not." Adam reasoned.

"He totally did, get this, when Coach Reilly found out me and Adam were switching teams he only fought for Adam to stay on the team. He didn't like that I was a girl, and he didn't like me even more when he saw I was better than most of his boys."

"Wow. He sounds nice." Connie joked.

"Oh yeah, best coach out there!" Indie joked back.

It was nice to see Indie and Connie getting along. I really wanted my girlfriend to see her as someone me who wasn't a threat to our relationship.

"We really gotta bring out A-game against the hawks." Indie noted.

"Why? You don't think we're good enough?" I heard Peter ask as he turned around in the booth behind us.

"No, I know you're good enough." She started. "But the Hawks don't play fair, and they're sneaky."

"You would know, right?" Peter asked brusquely. She narrowed her eyes at him, rolled them, then shook her head.

"Yes, Peter I would know." She admitted. "They may be like that, but I wasn't. Do any of you remember a time where I actually played dirty?"

"Well, you did slam me into the boards that one time." Averman remarked hesitantly.

"That's part of the game, bud." She shot back.

"The game wasn't in play. We were warming up.."Her eyes widened and she smiled sheepishly.

"Sorry..?" She said while patting him on the shoulder. "Well, other than that?"

She looked around at everyone as they murmured to eachother trying to think of a time she actually played unfairly. No one could think of any. She truly was a fair and honest player.

"See?" She relayed matter of factly. "Banks on the other hand..."She teased.

"Shut up, Di." He chuckled while playfully hitting her on the arm.

"Who's 'Di'?" Goldberg asked.

"I am?" Indie answered confused.

"Since when does anyone call you 'Di'?" He asked her. She furrowed her eyebrows.

"I told you guy the first day we went here together that some people call me Di. As in Indiana." She put emphasis on Di. "Did you not listen?"

"Knowing him," Connie started. "Probably not." Her and Indie laughed together. It was a good day. A great day even. All that was left to do was prepare for the Hawks. Oh boy. This should be fun.
