Thanks to Jack's dad, my vacation was ruined. It was supposed to be just me and my mom hanging out together. But no. Her new boyfriend had to come in and ruin it. (Or at least in think they're dating...) I learned later on that his name was David. So thanks a lot David😒. We were only spending a week in Florida and mom was out on dates with him nearly everyday! And just our luck, they were staying at the same hotel mom and I were. Don't get me wrong, mom and I still hung out together. But she was in some sort dof daze the whole time. And I think I knew what kind of "daze" she was in. Love.... I've never had to "share" my mom before. So I was having a hard time with her being with some guy she just met on a plane. But today was our last day in Florida. So after today, they won't see each other again! What am I saying? I should be happy mom is happy with him... Even though I don't want to....
"Hey honey! I have great news!" Said mom happily as she walked in our hotel room. I was laying on my bed watching Tv. "What's up?" I asked. She sat beside me. I just looked at her; waiting for a response. "So David and I are getting pretty serious now..." She started. I wanted to start screaming at the top of my lungs. She just met him! I just nodded while still staring at her. "And since our vacation is coming to an end, David said he has a way for us to still be together." She continued. I stopped her. "You're dating?!" I asked in shock. "Yeah, I thought I told you this..." She said. I just shook my head. "Anyway, he said Jack and Jack have a place out in LA so he and Jack are gonna live out there for a while. " she said. I was unsure of what to think. They're moving so you can keep dating?! My eyes almost popped out of my head. "Wow..." is all I managed to say. I've never seen mom so bubbly before...
(A few months later)
It's been a long time since we left Florida. And Jack and David have been living here for a while now. I was getting used to mom's new bubbly attitude and David constantly coming over. "Hey mom..." I shouted through the house as I ran down the stairs. "I feel like we haven't done anything together lately. Can we-" I started but mom cut me off. "Sorry sweetie. We have plans today." She said while multitasking. I groaned. "I hope you and David have fun today..." I mumbled as I walked back up the stairs. Mom stopped me. "Actually, you have plans too." She said with a sly expression. I gave her a confused look. "We're gonna meet Jack and David tonight for dinner." She said excitedly. "What?! Why do I have to go?!" I protested. "Because you have to get to know them at some point!" She said. I honestly couldn't care less about them. But I didn't want to be rude. Mom seemed really happy. So I had to be happy for her too. I sighed. "Go get dressed. It's kinda fancy..." She said. She hugged me before she left. I went back up to my room to get dressed. "We're leaving in a half hour!!" She added. "Wonderful..." I murmured as I sat on my bed. She didn't even give me an time to even think about what to wear. If you couldn't tell, I like things a certain way and done in an "orderly" fashion. So it gets on my nerves that mom isn't communicating with me anymore... 'Just suck it up...' I thought. I fortunately found an outfit quickly. I put on a black skater dress with gold trimming and cut outs in the back. I threw on black pumps and a used a black clutch purse. I left my hair naturaly curly, did light makeup, and purposely made my lipstick match my nails. When I was done I looked amazing. I guess in a way I was "dressing to impress". But I really didn't care what these people thought of me.
In a half hour, just like she said, mom was ready and calling me to the living room. "You look gorgeous!" She said. "Thanks so do you!" I replied. Tried to be happy, but it was really hard. I guess mom could sense the unhappiness in my voice. "Look, I know things have been kinda crazy. And I'm really glad you're handling it well. But please try to be happy tonight..." She said. I nodded. She smiled. "Thank you. Now let's go! They're waiting!" She said excitedly while walking out the door. I followed and got in the car.Jack g POV:
Ugh. First he ruins our vacation. Then he makes us move to LA. And now he's making me go to dinner with her and her daughter. Dad told me his girlfriend's name is Anna. And the daughter's name is Jessica. I honestly didn't want anything to do with them. I wish mom had full custody😒. They were coming here. I got dressed. "Hey Jack," dad started. I just looked at him. "Be nice. And clean your room." He added. I groaned. "Whatever..." I mumbled.
Around 7:45pm is when Jessica and Anna showed up. I was in my room texting Jack. I heard dad making small talk and acting all.... "Professional..." If he really liked Anna, he should stop pretending to be someone else. "Jack! They're here!" He shouted. 'Yay...' I thought as I walked downstairs to meet them. I've met Anna before, but not Jessica. "And this is my famous son, Jack." Said dad in the same stupid professional way. I smiled and introduced myself and shook their hands. Jessica seemed nice. She was really tall with long curly brown hair. But she seemed too..... I don't know.... Perfect. Just something about her was odd.Jessica POV:
When I met Jack he seemed like he couldn't care less about meeting us. I guess we have something in common... Jack's dad gestured towards the dining table. All four of us sat down. We ate dinner and talked. After everything was cleaned up we moved into the living room. Mom was sitting next to David. Jack and I were sitting on the same couch but about a foot away from each other. We were just talking but suddenly, David kneeled down next to mom. He said: "Anna, I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" My jaw dropped. But on the inside, I didn't know how to take it...
