Chapter 8: Date?

Jack, Jack, and I drove back home. Throughout he car ride there was silence, the awkward silence... Jack J eventually broke the silence. "So how do you know Brent?" He asked with some attitude. I had already said this. "He was my best friend and my boyfriend in high school." I reply. "Are you still dating?" Jack asked again. He seemed like he suddenly got in a bad mood. "No mom, we broke up." I said sarcastically. "Why? You guys seem like you'd be cute together." Said Jack G. Jack J slapped Jack G on the arm and gave him a look. "His dad is in the military..." I say. "Ohh." Jack G mumbled.

When we got back to the house, I went up to my room and the Jacks went to Jack G's room. I put my bags on the floor near my bed. I could hear Jack and Jack talking. It was obvious they were making a vine. I pulled out my phone and checked Twitter. I was on for about five minutes when I got a text. It was Brent!!! Why was I so happy about that? Ok, ok, I'll say this. I do still kinda like him. It's not like I'm in love with him. I just....like him... I don't know. He's my best friend first. But maybe I do still have some feeling for him...

J: heyyy
B: wyd
J: nm just got back from mall
B: cool same
J: I'm soooo bored
B: me too....
J: 😴
B: wyd now
J: same😊 u?
B: same. Wanna hang out
J: sure
B: can u meet me in the park in 10?
J: yeah um....idk where anything is yet so...
B: Ohh ok😂😂 then I'll just pick u up then
J: kk c u later
B: k bye😎
J: bye😉

I was really happy I was gonna get to see Brent again. I haven't actually spent time with him in so long. Maybe I should change? I don't know.... Maybe.... I wish mom was home so I could ask in person. I guess I should just FaceTime her. I called her. I had to make it quick though. "Hey honey!!" She said when she answered. "Hi. Sorry I have to make it fast, but I need your advice." I say. She nodded. "Whats up?" "Ok, so I was in the mall and I saw Brent!! And so we got each other's numbers and he wants to meet in the park in ten minutes... So should I wear this?" I asked while standing up so she could see what I was wearing. She chuckled. "You know you should try breathing when you talk..." She said sarcastically. I laughed. She looked at my outfit. "Yeah! It's cute! Now hurry up!" She said happily. "Ok..." I said. "Wait I have a question..." She said. "Yeah?" I said while reapplying some makeup. She smirked."You seem really happy about this... Is it like....a date..." She said slyly. "Mom! No it's not!!" I said defensively while laughing. "I know you haven't been on a date in a while so...." She added. "Mom!!" I nearly shouted. Suddenly, my door opened. "Sup." said Jack G as he walked in unexpectedly. I just gave him a look. "Do you know how to knock?" I say. He gave me the same look. "Nope! You smacked me this morning so....get over it." He said. I groaned, "Whatever." "Have fun on your date sweetie!" Said mom as she hung up. "Mom!!!!" I screamed into my phone, but she was already gone. I turned around and grabbed my purse. Jack G was smiling weirdly at me. "What?" I asked. "So you hooked up with Jack already.....nice..." He said. I shook my head. "Hell no! First, it's not actually a date. Second, I'm gonna be out with Brent, not Jack." He still stared at me slyly. "Yeah sure...." He said. I checked the time. It was five minutes since Brent and I talked. I started to walk out of my room and into the living room but Jack G stopped me. "If you want outfit advice, you should ask Jack." He said stupidly. I smacked him again and he started laughing. I almost made it out of my room when Jack J appeared in my doorway. "What's so funny?" He asked innocently. "Jack's being an idiot." I say as I walked out of my room and down to the living room.

Jack J POV:
Jack ditched me and so I went to go find him. I saw he was in Jessica's room with her. When I walked in I saw Jack laughing hysterically. When I asked what they were laughing at Jessica said Jack was an idiot and left. "What was that about?" I asked Jack. "She had a DATE!!!" Jack shouted the last part. "SHUT UP!!" I heard Jessica shout through the house. I chuckled. But then reality hit me. She had a date. "Is it really a date?" I asked. Jack shook his head no. "I don't think it's actually a date, but I think she likes him..." He replied. "Who's 'him'" I asked curiously. "Brent Rivera." He said. "Ohh..." I sighed. I could feel Jack's stare. "Are you jealous or something?" He asked. "What? No, no. Let her go out with Brent. I'm not jealous." I say while standing up and walking out the door. I didn't notice that Jessica was walking in the room. She's about my height so our heads collided. "Oww..." We said in unison. "Sorry. You ok?" I asked. She nodded. "Yeah, believe me, I've done worse." She said while smiling. I chuckled. We just stared in each other's eyes for a second. She smiled. I'm not sure if it was from nerves or if it was just her smiling because she is always so happy. I love her smile. 'She's so beautiful' I thought. Her face turned red. "Thanks." She said. Oh god. What's wrong a with me?? "I said that out loud again didn't i?" I say reluctantly. She nodded. "Oooooo!! Jack!!!" Said Jack G stupidly. "Jack stop being an idiot." Jessica and I say in unison. We look back at each other and smile. I could feel my face getting hotter too. Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

Jessica POV:

This was so awkward. Jack and I hit each other in the head and he said I'm beautiful when he only wanted to say that in his head. Not to mention he was just staring at me with his gorgeous, big, blue eyes. It almost made my heart melt.😍 What am I saying?! Shut up!! I'm not gonna fall for Jack. That's not gonna happen... But his eyes were amazing... Oh my god shut up Jess!! What am I doing?!
I was just about to stop myself from continuing to stare in his eyes when the doorbell rang. My eyes lit up as I ran downstairs. I went downstairs and opened the door. Brent was there. "Hi!!" He said happily as he hugged me. I hugged him back and said: "Heyyy!" We talked for a second. "So you ready to go?" He asked while gesturing towards the car. "Yeah!" I say. "I'm leaving!!" I shouted one last time through the house. "Bye!!" Someone shouted back.

-At the park-

For the past two hours Brent and I have been catching up. It was fun. I haven't seen him in so long. It was about 5:00pm now. And all of a sudden, he got really serious. "So I've had a great time with you tonight. And I really miss you." He started. I just looked at him. Our hands slowly interlocked. "Will you go out with me?" He asked. I smiled. "I'd love to." I say. Brent smiled. "Cool...are you free next weekend?" He asked. "Yeah, that's good." I reply. "Ok....good..." Brent said.
We hung around for about another half hour. We then left. He drove me back home. When we got in the driveway, Brent kissed me softly on the cheek. "I'll see you next weekend?" It came out sorta like a question. I nodded. "Yeah, ok." I say as I got out of his car. "Bye..." I said, "Bye." He replied.

I saw that Jack J's car was still here. I walked back in the living room to find the Jacks sitting on the couch watching tv. "I take it you're sleeping over again?" I say. "Yep!" He said happily. Jack G ran up to me and grabbed me by my wrist. He 'dragged' me upstairs. "What?!" I asked anxiously. "You can't be with Brent!" He whispered loudly. "What? Why?" I asked. "Jack likes you and he got kinda jealous that you went on a date with Brent." He said like it was no big deal. Who was he to tell me who to be with?! "First, I'm not 'with' Brent. Second, I can date who I want, and third Jack is just gonna have to deal with it." I said while putting my purse in my room and going back downstairs. "Don't you want Jack to be attracted to you?!" He asked surprised. "I honestly don't care. I told you I don't like him that way and I know you told him that I did so you probably got his hopes up. But it's your fault, so just deal with it." I said rudely. I got out of his grip and went back downstairs.
