Chapter 11: Date night

-Skipped a week-

Jessica POV:

Tonight was my date with Brent! I was so excited. I had a lot to do today. I had to plan my outfit. Since I like my outfits looking amazing wherever I go, I needed some time to get everything right.

Brent POV:

I couldn't wait for tonight with Jess. I loved hanging out with her as friends. And love it even more when it's a date. I think I'm gonna ask her to be my girlfriend... But I'm not sure...maybe. I also just wanna take it slow because we just saw each other for the first time in years a week ago. But I really just wanna be with her. She texted me around noon.

J: hi quick question...
B: sup
J: is it mostly casual or fancy
B: mix
J: kk Thx
B: np I'll pick u up at 5pm
J: k byeee😉
B: bye Jess ☺️

Jessica POV:

Ok good. Now I know what to wear. I put on white shorts, a black t shirt, silver Vans, and used a Kate Spade purse. I put my hair in a ponytail and did light makeup.

-A few hours later-

It was about 4:30pm now. I was making sure I was ready when Jack came in my room. "Hey." He said while sitting in my bed. "You still don't know how to knock do you?" I said sarcastically. "Sorry. Your door was open so..." "It's fine. I'm done anyway." I say. I walked in my closet for a minute. Jack was still talking. "So you're going out with Brent tonight?" He phrased like a question. "Yep." I reply. I heard him sigh. I walked back into my room. "What?" I asked. He sighed again. "Is it about Jack?" I asked, annoyed. "Look I know you don't believe me, but-" he started. But I didn't let him finish. "I'm not going out with Jack. So can you please stop pestering me about it? If he likes me, great. If he doesn't, great. I don't care." I said. He seemed sad. Thank god Jack J wasn't here. I wouldn't want him to hear that. "Don't get me wrong, he's my best friend. But I just don't like him that way and I'm tired of people saying I do." I said nicer this time. Jack nodded and walked away. Why does he keep asking me about this? Does Jack (J) ask him to ask me?
I went downstairs and found mom in the living room. She looked sad too. "You look really pretty." She said. "Thanks....are you ok?" I asked. She nodded. "Are you?" She asked in a way that made me think she was trying to tell me something. I nodded reluctantly. "Yeah...I think so... Why?" She shook her head. "Nothing...I just...wonder about you sometimes..." She said weirdly. Maybe she heard what I was saying to Jack in my room. Was I that loud?
About twenty minutes later, Brent came. I answered the door. "You look gorgeous!!" He said in a girly voice. I laughed. "Thanks you look awesome too." I replied. We talked for a minute and mom and over to say hi. "You ready?" I asked. He did his signature "Mmhhhmmm" (A/n sorry idk how you'd spell that). We walked out to his car. He opens the door for me and when I got in, he did too. On the ride to the restaurant we were going too, we acted like best friends. Not like boyfriend and girlfriend. So basically it was normal.

-Skipped to end of date-

Brent POV:

"I'm happy you came tonight." I said while walking Jess back to the door. "Me too. I had fun." She said while smiling. When we got up to the door I kissed her on the cheek. Now was my chance to ask her to ask her to be my girlfriend. But before I could, I stupidly said "Bye..." I wanted to but I just couldn't... I'm such an idiot. "Bye." She said while smiling and waving. Why couldn't I do it?! Uggghhh She's my best friend! I could tell her anything! Except that I want her to be my girlfriend...😪
