Cassidy agreed to come with me tonight, I am freaking out right now. She and I have been alone before, it's not like it's anything different. But this is something different, I looked up when the northern lights were going to be seen the best from the part of Michigan we are in and I asked Mason if I could take her up to the cabin we stayed at a few months ago.
Tonight is one of the only nights this week the northern lights can be seen from here so I am going to take her up to see them. I have food packed, and I drove up last week to get the balcony area set for us to watch them. I don't think I have ever put this much effort into planning something for another person.
I watch her walk down the stairs with her hair in two braids down her head and one of my old hoodies that is still huge on her along with a pair of sweatpants and her slippers. Chloe hands her a fuzzy blanket from the basket in their living room and Brandi gives me a little bark as I bend over to pet her.
"How long are you guys going to be gone?" Mr. Clark asks, I look up at Cassidy who shrugs her shoulders. "Alright, just be safe and let me know when you get there." I nod and take a deep breath as Cassidy looks up at me with a small smile.
I lead her to the car and open her door for her, "You seem uneasy." she says as soon as I get in the car. I shake my head even though she is right. I've never been this nervous around her, even when we slept together I was never this nervous.
"Nothing to worry about, I'm all sunshine and roses." she rolls her eyes and chuckles.
"You've never been sunshine and roses, that is the unsettling part." damn, she's right. I pull out of her driveway and shake my head.
"I'm fine Cassidy." I watch her slip her shoes off and lean into the seat.
"I don't believe you but okay." I take a deep breath and fight everything in my body telling me to put my hand on her thigh. "Where are we going?" she turns her head to look and me with a small smile.
I look away from the road and smile back, "That would ruin the surprise now wouldn't it?" she lets out a huffed breath and turns to look back out the window. It snowed hard last night but thankfully the balcony has removable sheets to block out the weather.

I pull into the driveway and her eyes light up. "Are Chloe and Mason meeting us up here?" I shake my head and her eyebrows raise.
We get out of the car and walk inside, I lead her to the balcony and she smiles as I start to take down the sheets so we can see outside. Her cheeks start to turn a rosy color from the wind that just decided to push through.
"You can go sit inside if you want." she shakes her head.
"No it's alright, do you need help?" I look at the leftover sheets and shake my head. "Too bad. I'm not going to just sit here and watch you do all the work." she stuck her tongue out at me. I roll my eyes playfully and watch her walk to try and reach for the sheets.
She starts to tip over and I rush over to her to keep her steady. "You're going to fall." she lets out a stuttered breath as I give her hip a small squeeze.
"I would've been fine." I shake my head and let out a small sigh.
"Will you please sit down? I don't want or need you getting hurt." I watch her frown and I sigh putting my forehead against the back of her head. "I'm sorry." she shakes her head.
"No, you're right. I just feel bad for not helping." I shake my head and shift my head to lean on her shoulder.
"You shouldn't have to help today. Today is about you." she sighs. "It won't take me that long." I shift her to sit in one of the chairs and finish taking the sheets down.
