"Cassidy, are you coming?" I grab my bag and run down the stairs.
"Yeah, sorry." Chloe shakes her head as we walk out to her car. We pull out of the driveway and drive to school.
It's been a few months since everything happened with Andrew and I. He and I have talked briefly but not like we used to. I miss him, but at the same time, I still need time to figure everything out. We graduate in a few weeks, Chloe is going away for school and I am going to the community college to get my associate's in business so I can start my baking company. Mom helped me finalize the lease and I am starting to open the company up by slowly selling my baked goods to people around town.
Chloe pulls into her spot next to Mason who is waiting in his car for her. She gets out of the car and smiles at him. The two of them have gotten better, they are happier than they were before which I think is a good thing.
Bailey runs over to me with a massive smile and links her arm with mine, "Are you going to the prom?" she jumps up and down waiting for my answer.
Mom ranted to Principal Peters about letting me provide the desserts for the prom, I have to go since I will be the one handing them out. "I kinda have to go Bailey." I wait for the realization to cross her brain.
"OH Right!" I laugh as we get to my locker. "But like still, are you going to dress up? Do you already have a dress? If you don't can I get one for you?" I chuckle and nod.
"Sure. As long as it is long, I don't want a short dress again." she smiles and nods as she skips away to her locker. I chuckle and hear someone walking up behind me, I turn around and watch Mollie and Jessie standing behind me.
They have left me alone for a while but have been more annoying than usual for the past few days. "You were nominated for Prom queen." I cough on my saliva.
"What?" they roll their eyes.
"Drop out or we will tell the whole school the kind of person you really are." I burst out laughing, making people stare at us in the hallway.
"You really think that scars me? You don't even know who I am, how am I supposed to believe an empty threat about you ratting me out to the school." the girls glare at me as Andrew walks into view. I give him a small smile which he returns before walking away.
"Just drop out." I shrug.
"I won't try and take it from you, but we will see who this school likes just by waiting. I'm not going to bribe anyone so if I win then ha! I win. If you win then there you go, you can bribe enough people into liking you. May the best woman win." I close my locker and walk away.
I could care less about the popularity contest that is prom court. But if it gets under Mollie's skin then there's no harm in a little fun. I keep walking until I run into someone, their books fly everywhere and I chuckle to myself.
"I'm so sorry. I was off in my own little world." I look over to the person and smile, the girl gives me a shy smile.
"No, it's alright. I wasn't looking where I was going." I help her pick up her things and hand them to her, "Thank you. You really didn't have to do that." I shake my head.
"No problem, and technically it was my fault so I didn't mind. But either way, any decent person would. I'm Cassidy by the way." she nods.
"I know who you are. You were on the volleyball team with my cousin." I raise an eyebrow at her, "Jessie." I make an 'o' with my mouth and cringe. "Don't worry, I don't like her either. She's a real priss." I bark a laugh and nod.
"That's for sure. What's your name?" she smiles at me as we continue to walk through the halls.
"Thea."
