10 more days until Christmas. That means today is Chloe's and my birthday. It's been a month and a half since the party and I haven't spoken to anyone. Not even Chloe. I stare at the ceiling waiting to see if Chloe will come in here like she's been doing for the past few days.
I look at the clock and take a deep breath as she and I make eye contact. Chloe walks over and slides under the covers with me. We hug each other and let out a sigh, "I'm sorry." I whisper.
She shakes her head and curls into me, "I'm sorry too. I could have come sooner." I shake my head.
"I needed the time to myself." she frowns and sits up, "We still have school today?" she nods and I let out a small sigh.
"Yeah, but today is the last day before break so that's always good." I shrug my shoulders, "Andrew has been asking me about you." I raise an eyebrow at her. "He's just been asking about how you're doing. Like if you have been eating and stuff like that."
I nod and scoot back on my bed to lean against the headboard, "I hate saying what I said." she shakes her head but I sigh. "No, Chloe I do. In my head, it's all true. I overheard you and Mason talking about how you got accepted into the college of your dreams. Bailey and Danny are moving to Italy with their grandmother to take a gap year. I haven't made any plans. I was too scared to. I mean I have the shelter but I don't want to spend the rest of my life working there. I can't do college I know that for a fact, I already hate school enough as it is so that's a no-brainer but I don't want to waste my life away." I let out a small sigh.
"You took the business classes last year, what about starting a business, or what if you did a cooking class? You love to cook." I shrug my shoulders, "Just think about it. Don't disregard all of the chances you have just because one thing goes wrong." I lean into her and she smiles at me.
"So where did you put it?" she smirks at me and shrugs her shoulders. Chloe and I have a tradition where a week before our birthday we get each other a gift and hide it somewhere in the other's room. "I have torn this room apart three times and couldn't find it. How do you know my room's hiding spaces better than I know?" she chuckles and shrugs her shoulders again.
"Where is mine?" I smile.
"I'll tell you if you tell me?" she taps her chin and holds out her hand. I shake hers and smile, "Under your bed, in the small flower box." she smiles gets off the bed, and walks over to my desk.
She pulls out my own pencil case and tosses me a small box, she skips out of the room and comes running back in when she has the box in her hand. We open them together and smile, I got her a silver chain bracelet and she got me a charm.
"Did you snoop?" she chuckles and shakes her head.
"No, I was going to buy the chains but they were out so I thought, I can buy the charms right now and get the chains later." I laugh and hook the chain around her wrist. I grab mine from my nightstand and hook the charm on it.
"Get dressed, we have to get to school." I nod and give my sister a short hug.
"Thank you." she smiles and nods as she pulls away and walks out of the room. I grab a pair of black jeans and a cute sweater. I slip on a pair of my wedged boots and slip my phone into my back pocket.
"Ready?" I look over at Chloe and nod, I slip on my winter coat and walk out to her car with my bag over my shoulder; get in the car, and drive to school.
Mason was standing by his car holding flowers for her and I smiled as he opens her door and helps her out. "Happy birthday baby." she hugs him as I grab my bag from the floor and close my door. "Happy Birthday Cassie." he hands me a card and I smile.
