Chapter fourteen
After like 5 minutes, she came back and told them food was ready.
They stood and headed to the dinning area with sumayyah leading the way.
Many sorts of meals, snacks and drinks were brought to the table.
They started eating and that was when Aisha came down looking very beautiful, she was wearing a brown and a touch of pink lace bubu gown, she applied make up which surprised sumayyah because she wasn't a fan of makeup, but she shunned the thoughts and concentrated on Umar's conversation with her mother.
Farida wasn't home at that moment, she was at her restaurant so the house was a peace one.
They smiled at her before she found a seat and sat down near sumayyah, when I say 'they' I mean sumayyah and hajiya mansura only.
They finished eating and went back to the parlor, he enjoyed the meals even though he didn't fed himself much of the food but he liked the date shake, so he took much if that.
He noticed the unnecessary glances Aisha was throwing at him but did he cared? No.
"Mummy I want to talk to you please, the two of us only"
He said in his deep voice.
"Okay inaji(I'm all ears) "
he hesitated for a while before he talked
"Ehm I don't know how this will sound but... "
He kept quite and looked at everybody in the room who are hajiya mansura, Sumayyah and Aisha before he continued.
"I want your daughter's hand in MARRIAGE"
He said which startled everyone in the room except hajiya mansura, yes she saw that coming so she wasn't surprised.
Sumayyah was super shocked,she blinked her eyes to process what he just said but she couldn't, she sat there looking at him with a wide mouth .
She looked at her mother which was looking at her too but not with any expression, she was just trying to read her daughter's face because she was sure he didn't talked to her about it.
Aisha too was surprised to the core, they all weren't expecting that, her face was holding an unreadable expression, no one could tell what she was thinking at that moment.
She understood her daughter's emotions at that moment so she turned to him and talked.
"sumayyah and Aisha give us some space please"
Hajiya mansura said firmly to her children, they did as told and left with an emotionless sumayyah.
"What are you saying again umar? "
She asked and he replied with the same words he used earlier.
"Have you talked to her about it? I mean have you guys talked and agreed about it? "
She asked him because she was sure they didn't had that conversation.
"No mummy, I know this sounds awkward but I just wanted to put elders inside the topic, I'll talk to her and I know we will settle ourselves "
He replied.
"Good I like that, this showed me that you know what you are doing, and I've given you the go ahead to talk to her about it, even though I wasn't the one supposed to give you that permission, its her father but since he's out of the country now, he's absent then I'll represent him,and in sha Allah I'll contact him later and we will talk about it"
She said in an elderly and matured way as it should be.
He thanked her and told her he would leave.
He stood up and headed out when he heard a voice talking to him.
"Umar"
She called his name which made him to turned.
"Sumayyah needs time now okay, so don't call her, wait until she calls first"
He understood the language so he didn't argue, he thanked her again and left.
He was happy for the permission her mother gave him, he knew making sumayyah fall for him will not be a big deal, but one thing he didn't know was that she has already fell for him since day one.
His father was his biggest obstacle now, because he knew he won't be happy with what he'll tell him, infact he would be beyond upset.
He sat on his phone and started his car, just then an unknown number texted him.
"HOW DARE YOU UMAR, YOU HAD THE GUTS TO ASK FOR ANOTHER'S GIRL HAND IN MARRIAGE WHEN IM STILL ALIVE? NO UMAR, THAT WILL ONLY HAPPEN AFTER I DIE"was what was written in bold letters, he wasn't surprised because he knew who it was, but how did she know? Maybe she's stalking him or whatever, little did he know that it wasn't who he was suspecting.
