Eric's POV
What does it feel like when someone you like loves someone else? I wasn't sure, and honestly, it didn't matter to me. I was just wondering about it since my friend over here is heartbroken about this whole love drama.
To me, it was like that feeling when you were a kid and you really, really wanted that shiny new toy, but then your annoying cousin got it instead. Yeah, it's kinda like that, except it's your heart getting all bruised and battered.
I patted Hex's shoulder, trying to comfort him. "Relax dude, it wasn't like you guys were actually together."
Hex exploded, "Dude my best friend knew I liked her... and now look at him flirting with her!"
I backtracked, "Alright, true colors have been revealed I guess." I hastily added," I never really liked her anyway, she just seemed like an attention seeker -"
"Ouch!" I yelled as Hex punched my arm. Rubbing my arm ruefully, I said," I guess I'm too honest sometimes huh?"
Hex just started angrily shoving his books in his bag.
I nudged him. "Cheer up mate, plenty more fish in the sea!"
Hex glared at me. "Now you sound like my grandma."
I grinned. "What can I say, I'm wise beyond my years."
"Eric, say one more word and I'll make you look like a potato that got flattened by an elephant."
I sprung up, yelling dramatically, "Well, I guess I'll have to ketchup with you later!"
Hex crackled his knuckles menacingly. "That's it!"
Hex ran at me and I bolted, laughing nervously. As I dashed into the woods, I yelled over my shoulder, "Catch me if you can, slow coach!"
Hex shouted, "When I catch you, you're toast!"
Dodging between the trees, I kept yelling jokes to distract Hex from catching me. After a while, he slowed down, laughing at my silly antics. I skidded to a stop, relieved our friendship was still intact.
Hex punched my arm again, but this time with a grin. "You're an idiot Eric, but you're my idiot friend."
I rubbed my arm, grinning back. "Good to know mate."
I was still laughing with Hex in the woods when my phone rang. I saw it was my dad calling so I answered.
"Hey dad!"
"Hey son, just checking if school's over?"
"Not yet, my friend was just being overdramatic as usual." I chuckled.
Dad laughed. "Ah, drama. You'll be home soon right? You need to be here to meet Darla and the girls."
So the time has finally come? Dad told me about his relationship with this woman named Darla a few weeks ago, and also that I'd have two stepsisters now since they're getting married. And I've been trying to be mentally prepared for it, but honestly, I never liked the idea of having sisters.
I groaned. "Do I have to meet your girlfriend's weird daughters?"
"They're not weird Eric!" Dad scolded. "How can you assume such thing? You've never even met them. Give them a chance. They could be great sisters for you. We could be a great happy family."
I sighed. The last thing I wanted was annoying stepsisters. But Dad sounded hopeful so I gave in.
"Okay dad, I'll be home in a few minutes.""Great! See you soon."
I hung up and turned to Hex. "My dad says I have to get home, I'm meeting his new girlfriend and her 'not weird' daughters."
Hex chuckled. "Good luck mate."
Hex had just left when I was about to pick up my backpack. Suddenly I got teleported. I groaned and almost yelled "Not again!"
An angel appeared in front of me. I complained "What do you want now? Why at this time?"
The angel said urgently "He got caught. He was almost seen drinking snake blood and now he doesn't care about being executed."
I asked annoyed "And now you want me to fix it?"
The angel replied "Yes."
"Why am I fixing someone else's mistakes?" I said raising an eyebrow. But the angel didn't seem to give a damn about it.
I rolled my eyes and said, "Ugh fine, let me go for now." The angel gave me details of the girls who saw Alaric.
Alora and Fiorella.
I teleported back to college and started walking home with my backpack.
That name, Fiorella, was quite unique. I wonder what it meant.
I'm a vampire from the Eternals. We're not allowed to be seen doing anything abnormal like drinking human blood. If we get caught or seen by humans we have 3 options: get executed, make the witnesses die, or turn them into vampires. Pretty messed up but that's how it is.
This time the most powerful vampire in the army, Alaric, made a mistake but doesn't even care about getting executed cause he's the son of the first vampire. Angels can't execute him. I was getting late, so I just head back home.
