Alora's POV
I was lounging on my bed, scrolling through my phone when Ella burst into the room, looking flustered. "Alora, I can't decide what to wear. Mom said we need to dress nicely to meet her boyfriend and his son." She said, looking all stressed about a dress, When she's the one who told me not to stress about this whole meeting our soon-to-be step-brother thing, mom told us we'd be meeting her boyfriend and his son today, and honestly, me and Ella weren't prepared mentally.
I rolled my eyes at her. "Relax, Ella. It's not that big of a deal. Just pick something that makes you feel good."
I was never the type of girl who worried about my appearance or spent hours thinking about what dress to wear for a special occasion. I was more of a "grab the first thing I see" kind of person, and honestly, it was pretty great.
It's all about finding that middle ground where you care about how you look without letting it define your worth or happiness.
Ella sighed. "But I don't know what that is. Do you think this black dress looks okay?" she asked, holding up a black dress.
I shook my head. "No, I think the blue one suits you better."
Ella groaned. "But I wore the blue one last time we went out."
"Well, then don't wear either of them. Look for something else," I suggested.
Ella was getting more and more frustrated as she searched through her wardrobe. "I can't find anything to wear," she grumbled. "What about you? Have you decided on your outfit?"
I shrugged and replied honestly, "I haven't figured it out yet. Let me take a look in my wardrobe."
I stood up, walked over to my closet, and started scanning through my clothes. True to my style, I grabbed the first thing that caught my eye—a coffee brown shirt and black trousers. Holding up the outfit, I asked Ella, "What do you think of this?"
Ella's face brightened up as she looked at the clothes. "That's perfect! It's simple but stylish. You should definitely go with that," she said with a nod of approval.
I chuckled. "Well, I appreciate your approval, but honestly, I would've worn this even if you said no," I admitted with a playful grin.
Fiorella let out a sigh and said, "Well, you shouldn't have asked me for my opinion if you were just going to wear it anyway."
I smiled and headed to the bathroom to change.
When I came back out, Ella was still trying to choose her shoes. "Come on, Ella, we're going to be late," I reminded her.
Ella groaned. "I know, I know. I just can't decide on my shoes now."
I gave her an annoyed look. "Seriously, Ella? Just wear the black ones and let's go."
We made our way downstairs, where our mother was waiting for us. She looked stunning in a red dress. "Oh, you both look beautiful!" she exclaimed, hugging us both.
We stepped outside, the crisp air greeting us as we made our way towards the car. Ella took the driver's seat, and I settled into the passenger's seat, getting comfortable. Mom was in the backseat.
I was scrolling through my Spotify playlist, looking for something to listen to.
I eventually settled on a love song and turned up the volume. As the music filled the car, I couldn't help but wonder what it would feel like to be in love with someone so much that you're willing to destroy the universe for them, even though you don't hold the power to do so.
The idea was both mind-blowing and kind of scary. Imagine being so head over heels in love with someone that nothing could hold you back. It's like your love is so intense that it breaks all the rules and goes beyond what makes sense. It's a wild thought that taps into the full range of our emotions and the deep connections we can have with others.
After an hour or so, we finally arrived at our mother's boyfriend's house. As we pulled into the driveway, I looked up at the massive house and felt my jaw drop. "Woah," I breathed, staring at the mansion in front of us.
Ella pulled the car to a stop, and we all got out, still gawking at the impressive house. Our mother led the way up to the front door, and we followed her, still in shock at the size of the place.
As we walked into the house, I couldn't help but feel a little intimidated by its grandeur. Everything was so fancy and expensive-looking. I found myself wondering how our mother's boyfriend could afford to live in such a place.
Our mother's boyfriend appeared in the hallway, greeting us with a warm smile. "Welcome, everyone. I'm so glad you could make it," he said, shaking our hands.
We all exchanged pleasantries, and I tried to make polite conversation, but I still felt a little overwhelmed.
This was a huge mansion. I know mansions are huge. But this one was massive.
It was almost like a palace.
