Alora's POV
Fiorella and I were on a mission to claim our rooms in the house of our soon-to-be stepfather, Adriel. Suddenly, my eyes widened as I caught sight of a room that was completely black—walls, furniture, everything. My heart skipped a beat because, you see, I have an obsession with the color black. So, without a second thought, I let out a booming proclamation, "Nobody better lay a finger on this room! It's mine, I tell ya!"
Fiorella couldn't help but burst into laughter, and Eric, who happened to be Adriel's biological son, looked utterly bewildered. Fiorella tried to explain, "Don't mind Alora. She's head over heels for all things black, you know?"
Eric's eyes sparkled mischievously as he smirked, "Well, well, well, Alora. You certainly have a flair for the dramatic."
Just as we were having a blast, Adriel appeared, reminding us that it was time to call it a night. But Eric, being the cool guy he was, spoke up, "Come on, Dad. Let them have a bit of fun. It's our first time meeting, after all."
Adriel's lips tugged into a warm smile, and he nodded in agreement. "I told you, Eric. You would love them. You were being dramatic about not having sisters for no reason." As he said that me and Fiorella looked at each other with confused faces.
"Wait, you didn't want sisters?" I said looking at Eric.
"Oh no, lemme tell you this, when he was a kid he never wanted a sister. We used to have these imaginary battles in our backyard, pretending to be superheroes. And whenever I suggested having a sister join us in the game, he would protest vehemently. He believed having a sister would ruin all the fun and adventures we had together."
"So, what changed your mind now?" Fiorella asked.
"Oh, come on," Eric teased, his mischievous grin returning. "I still wasn't sure about having sisters at first, but now that we know stuff about each other and get along so well, I think we can be a great trio."
Adriel raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in his eyes. "Is that so? So you finally admit that having sisters isn't such a bad thing?"
Eric chuckled, nodding.
"Alright, have your fun, but don't stay up too late, alright?"
With Adriel's permission, we settled ourselves on the bed, laughter still echoing in the air. Feeling mischievous, I turned to them and said, "So, how about we delve into the realm of ghosts and spooky stuff? You know, chilling stories!"
Fiorella's expression shifted to one of skepticism. "Alora, you know I'm not a fan of those things."
But Eric, oh Eric, he leaned forward, his eyes gleaming with interest. "Well, I happen to know a tale about a monstrous creature that prowls the night, drinking snake blood."
A shiver ran down my spine, fear mingling with an insatiable curiosity. How did Eric know about the very same monster I had encountered not too long ago? I couldn't contain myself and blurted out, "Hold on! Were you there? Did you see it too?"
Eric burst into laughter, and Fiorella shot him a disbelieving look. "Eric, are you just messing with us?"
His playful demeanor turned serious, and he leaned in closer, capturing our undivided attention. "Alright, I'll spill the beans. Brace yourselves, because what I'm about to say may sound crazy. But here it goes: I'm a vampire. And that person you saw drinking blood? Yep, also a vampire."
My mind raced, trying to process this mind-boggling revelation. It was beyond anything I could have imagined. Trembling with a mix of fear and excitement, I mustered the courage to ask, my voice quivering, "Wait, is your dad a vampire too?" The thought of an entire family of vampires sent a chill down my spine.
