Chapter 4

I took a deep breath and explained to her in a hurried voice

"There are 2 problems. First off, Chris heard me talking with my Dad and Mike last night, meaning that he could tell Mom about this, and second off: Mom is pregnant with Josh and that is horrible because she's preg with someone that could be bad and I don't know what to do I-"

"Shhh, girl, calm down, calm down..." said Sabrina, cutting me off, trying to help me calm down as she understood that I was stressing out due to my hurried voice.

I took a deep breath twice and said

"I just don't know what to do in this situation, it's just getting worse..."

"Listen, I know that you dislike Josh, but it doesn't mean that you have to assume anything bad about him. Not all stepfathers are mean" She said "Who knows? Maybe what you saw that night wasn't even bad"

"Well, it's not my fault that Mom fell in love with a man that none of us know enough or trust"

"I know, and I don't blame you for that. I know that it's technically because you're not used to him yet, you just need time until you can trust him"

"Well, he was with someone that looks like he's a criminal," I said.

"Maybe he looks like a criminal, but we don't know if he really is one," she answered.

I didn't answer, she may be not wrong. Not all stepdads are evil, some of them are and some of them aren't. But still, I don't trust him. The girl I'm talking to right now just sighed and explained her point to me

"Look, maybe I'm wrong. But all I'm trying to say is that maybe it's not a big mess"

"It's just that...I don't know what to do, I don't trust this guy and he was acting suspicious that night. I highly believe that Mom isn't even aware of that, because who would get something he ordered at 3 AM? It makes no sense. Not to mention, Josh was acting secretive about it, he was looking around, making sure that no one was looking at him when he let the guy in. Even if it's not a big mess, I should still find out, just in case. I'm just worried, stressed, and scared..." I said.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine. Go, inhale...exhale...calm down..."

I did what she said and I finally calmed down.

"You can tell this to your brother and to your Dad, especially to your father. They could help with that"

"Yeah...yeah, maybe you're right..."

"Good"

"Well, talk to you later"

"Cya!"

And we both hung up. I sighed and then I left the room. Once I stepped out of my bedroom, I found my father standing next to my door, looking at me.

"Hi Dad...umm...you technically won't like what I'm going to tell you right now, but-"

"I know," he said, cutting me off"I heard"

"You did?"

"Yeah, I heard you and your friend talking"

He stood silent for 3 seconds, then he asked

"How do you know that your Mother is pregnant, anyway?"

"Chris told me," I responded.

"Is that so?"

"Yep, he said that Mom called him from his iPad and told him that she's preg"

"What was he doing on his electronic device?"
