26th April, Monday, 10:57 AM

I was at school and there were 3 minutes left before our second class starts. Some students came to our class early though, including me.

While I was sitting at my desk, waiting for class to start, I heard one of my classmates named Patricia talking to her friends, complaining about an argument between her and her mother, saying that her Mom punished her for hanging out with a group of bad people.

"I swear, I hate my mother! She never lets me do what I like. She instead always tells me what to do and what I should not do. And now, she took my phone away" my classmate said.

I don't know why, but hearing her argument with her mother reminded me of something. It reminded me of an argument that happened a few years ago between Mike and my Dad, after the divorce. It was night time, my brother had just came back from hanging out with what he called his pals. Mike was 13 and I was 11 at that time.

"Where have you been?" my Dad asked after seeing Mike opening the door and entering the house.

"None of your business," my sibling responded, rolling his eyes.

"Don't talk to me like that, young man. Answer the question, where have you been?"

"Leave me alone, Dad!"

My father stood quiet for a moment, analyzing his son, then he spoke

"You've been hanging out with those guys again, huh?"

"'Those guys'? They're my friends, Dad! They are good friends who care about me and my feelings!" Mike yelled.

"'Good friends', you say? Well, I don't consider people who bully others, who drink alcohol, and who smoke a lot, good friends. You're not one of them and I highly don't encourage you to become one. They're full of jerks and they're influencing you into being like them"

Mike stood silent for a moment, then he argued

"So, you're saying that I'm being a jerk? Hah! Well, don't forget the time when my mom caught you in bed with another woman, 'Mr good person'! And thanks to you, me and your daughter were hurt seeing their parents split up! Also, where were you when your ex-wife had to work hard and be tired just to raise me, Vicky, and especially Chris as he was just a baby? Tsk, what an amazing husband and father you are. If anything, you'd be the jerk!"

My dad's eyes widened after my older brother's response and as I was watching the argument, I noticed my father's wrath kicking in.

"How dare you talk to me like that, boy!? You're grounded for a week!" the man who gave birth to me yelled, taking away the phone of his son from his hand "Go to your room, now!"

Mike just huffed and went into his room.

My older brother and my father certainly didn't get along well after the separation. In fact, even when Mike was 9 years old, where he was at the age to know what cheating meant, he still hated the detective. He at least knew that when a married man hangs out with another woman or when a married woman hangs out with another man, or when they kiss, it's considered cheating. Once he turned 11, he learned more about adultery. The fact that Mike was friends with bad people at 13 encouraged him to hate his Dad even more.

I was 7 when they first divorced and I never knew what infidelity meant, meaning that I never knew the reason why my parents separated. I soon understood as I got older. Honestly, I never hated my Dad, even after knowing what adultery meant. I was mad at him after knowing what he did, but I never hated him, since he's still my Dad. But, Chris doesn't mind. He was used to this ever since he was a baby, so he's not affected by this. Until right now, he still doesn't know the reason why Mom and Dad split up as he's still young.
