1rst May, Saturday, 3 PM
I don't have school today, nor do my siblings, but my Dad has work and Mike has to go to his crush's birthday. My friend has prepared the tracking device and walkie-talkie and sent them to me. I lied to my mother and told her that my Dad knew I was going to her house that day and that he agreed.
For the whole week, Dad always suspected me. I even heard him talk to Mike this morning before he left to go to work.
"Mike, when you go out to your friend's birthday, I want you to lock the door on your way out as you'll leave the house after me"
"Ok...why are you telling me this? I never forget to lock the door when I step out of the house" Mike asked, confused.
"I'm telling you just in case you won't forget. I fear that your sister will leave the house if she's still trying to figure out Josh's secret..." Dave responded.
"But Dad, Vicky can't leave Chris alone, he's her brother"
"Still, just in case"
"Yes, Dad..." Mike sighed.
Dad smiled and left. Now, Mike just left. Unfortunately, Dad took my house keys away from me, so I can't unlock the door to leave my house. So, I decided to leave from the window.
Before I left, I distracted my brother by making him watch his favorite show. I eventually escaped by the window. It wasn't easy as I still had a cast on my arm
"Sorry Dad, sorry Chris, sorry Mike, please forgive me. I lied to you guys and I will let you guys worry again..." I thought.
As my Mom's house is far from my Dad's, I took the bus to go there. When I arrived, I took out my walkie-talkie to make sure that my friend was on the line, and she was. Then, I took a deep breath and rang the door. My mother opened the door.
"Hey sweetheart"
"Hey Mom"
"Where's Chris?" she asked.
My Mom knew that my Dad had work and that Mike was on his crush's birthday, but I guess she assumed that Chris would come with me.
"He's out to his friend's house. Don't worry, Mike will come to pick him up after his friend's party and they'll take the bus together" I lied.
Sonia smiled, as she trusted me and had no idea that I was investigating. Not to mention, she trusts her son, Mike, so she doesn't mind where he'll go or what he'll do.
"So everyone's busy, huh? At least you're free"
I smiled, acting innocent. As soon as I entered inside, I saw a handsome young man behind Mom.
"So that's your daughter?" he said "Now I know where she got her beauty from"
He gave me his hand and said
"My name's Vincent, what's your name?"
"The name's Vicky, nice to meet you," I responded, shaking his hand.
"Nice to meet you too, young lady," he answered, with an Italian accent.
I analyzed him for a moment. He looked the same as the one in the photo that my mother sent me. Not to mention, he still had the bracelet on his wrist containing the letter V. So far, he looks like a kind man. Nothing suspicious to begin with.
As I was shaking his hand, I secretly put the tracking device on the sleeve of his jacket.
"Perfect," I thought "Everything is ok so far. I bet he didn't notice, or most likely, I hope..."
