As I was talking to my friend, I heard a noise. I eventually figured out it was the sound of a door opening.
"I'm home," Mike said.
I heard him close the door behind him afterward.
"Welcome back," I said "There's a surprise waiting for you"
"Oh really? I would like to know what it is" He said.
I was excited to see my older sibling's reaction when he sees Chris awake, so I told Sabrina
"I'll call you back, ok?"
And I hung up. Once I opened the door of my room, I saw Chris walking towards the exit door to see Mike. My older brother was shocked when he first saw Chris and hugged him. The police was also watching.
"I missed you so much, Mike," said the little kid.
"Me too..." the high schooler responded, "I'm glad you're ok..."
They stayed like this for a few minutes, then they let go of each other.
"Well, since I'm in a good mood today, how about we all go to a restaurant?" the detective proposed, smiling.
"Yeah, sure. I'm tired from high school, so I could use a little break. Plus, I don't have work to do today," said the teenager.
"But, what about the case?" the kid that just woke up from the coma asked.
We all looked at him, perplexed.
"What case?" the man who gave birth to me asked.
"The one about Josh with the black box," the kid explained.
"Oh, that? Don't worry about it, it's solved. The object that was on the box was a statue," the man who gave birth to me explained.
"Huh? Then why when I came out of your room after you explained the car accident to me, I heard Vicky talking to Sabrina, saying something like 'I don't want to give up, I have to find out Josh's secret and what is the thing the he's hiding so bad'? Is Sabrina into this too?"
"Oh no..." I thought "I'm screwed..."
Everyone looked at me, including the detective. He then turned his head towards his youngest son and asked
"Is this true?"
He nodded. The guy who cheated on my mother then looked at me, with the smile erased. The detective then spoke to me in a cold voice
"Vicky, tell me the truth"
"Dad, why would I lie? I never lied to you, and if something happens, I report it to you right away" I defended.
"Well, we know that your little brother sucks at lying to the point that we could see it from his face, so why can't I sense anything suspicious when I'm analyzing his face just now? It's more logical to trust someone who is terrible at lying than to trust someone who never told me a lie. Didn't you say that there was a statue on your stepdad's box? So, why are you still working on this case?" my father said, in a angry and serious voice.
"Well, she also said something before that," Chris spoke, "she said-"
My father gave him a sign to stay quiet and said
"Chris, I'm talking to your sister. I want her to answer"
He looked back at me.
"ANSWER ME!" the police yelled.
Everyone was looking at me, waiting for an answer. I tried to think of a lie to get away with it, but I couldn't think of one this time. So, I gave up and revealed it.
"Well, after Josh told me this and I called you to tell you that, I found out that he lied to me. There wasn't a statue inside the box. I saw him meeting the same muscular man shown in the video and Josh said things like 'Don't worry, if anyone has suspicions about me about the box, I could just fake it, saying there's a statue inside it'. Now, I was sure he was hiding something bad, otherwise he shouldn't have lied to me"
I stood quiet for a moment and continued
"I decided not to report it to any of you because I know that Dad doesn't want me to be part of the case anymore, even though I was the witness and told you guys about it. I was aware that it was the same thing with Mike. So, I decided to try and find out myself with the help of my friend. Sorry for hiding this fact from you all, but I didn't want any of you to worry..."
They were all silent. I noticed my father shaking in anger. He then started giggling, but of course, without meaning that it was funny. It pretty much means that he was bursting out of anger, but since he's uncomfortable with this emotion, his mind made him laugh to get rid of that unpleasant feeling. When he finished giggling, he said
"Are you serious? You've lied to me for a week about something that could put you in danger just because you didn't want us to worry? Also because you were aware that I'd refuse that you'd get involved in a big situation like this? You even put your friend into this..."
He giggled again and said
"Well, guess what? You've made things worse. I've always trusted you, so I wasn't worried much about you, but now..."
He took a deep breath and finished the conversation with
"I'll go to my room to calm down...I'll call you in my room after I cool down so we can talk about this..."
The man who gave birth to me then left and went into his room. Me and the boys heard the loud noise of Dad slamming the door. I turned my head towards my brothers afterward. They looked back at me. Mike was giving me an angry look while Chris was giving me a worried one.
"God...what were you thinking..." Mike murmured "...I told you not to do this..."
I just walked back to my room and closed the door. I called my friend again and told her what happened just now.
"Oh, that's not good..." she said.
"I know...I even thought that it was a bad idea to hide it from him..." I said.
We talked for a few minutes, until I heard Dave call my name. I hung up on my friend and came to him. When I opened the door of his room, he looked at me, pointing at the chair next to him, speaking in a menacing voice
"Sit...down..."
I obeyed. I was well aware of what will happen. When I sat down on the chair, he put his arm on my shoulder and said
"Now, tell me, one by one, everything that has happened..."
That's what I did. I explained to him all the hints I found, all the missions me and Sabrina went through, and the lies I told him and Mom. But I didn't tell him about the notification that Sonia sent me, saying that I could meet Vincent.
"...I can't believe you've hidden all of this informations from me...you always tell me and your mother everything, but now, you're lying to me about a danger like this...and you could've put danger to your friend too..." he spoke, in a deep voice.
I looked down, feeling bad that I lied to him. But now, I was tired because it hit night time and I wanted to go to bed.
"You look tired. Go to bed, we'll continue our talk tomorrow," he said, leaving his hand off of my shoulder.
Then, I went to sleep.
To be continued.
