I finished school and went back home. Once I stepped inside my house, I saw Chris sitting on the couch, playing video games. Yep, his school normally ends earlier than mine.
"Hey Chris," I said.
My little brother looked at me, ran to me, and hugged me.
"Hi Vick, are you ok? How's your arm?" he asked.
"...since when did you run to me and hug me as if I came back from the dead?" I asked, confused about his behavior.
"I'm worried for you," he answered "Your arm is broken, and I don't need to mention about what happened yesterday"
I gave him a reassuring smile, patted his head and spoke
"Thanks, Chris. But don't worry, I'm fine"
27th April, Tuesday, 10 PM
As I was in the bathroom, brushing my teeth so that I could go to sleep, I heard a door opening. Even though I knew who came home, as Mike already came back from school a few hours ago, I still decided to see who it was. I quickly finished brushing my teeth and left the bathroom, seeing Dad locking the door behind him.
"Welcome home, Dad," I said.
"Hi Dad," said Mike, also checking up on Dad after he heard the door opening.
"Hello Dad" said Chris, running towards his father.
"Hello, Chris," the police answered, with a smile.
He looked at my older brother.
"Nice to see you, Mike"
He then looked at me, without a smile, but instead with an angry and scary look.
"Nice to see you too, Vicky"
"Yep, he's still mad at me," I thought.
Dave already knew I was about to go to bed, as he saw me with pajamas on, so he told me
"Vicky, before you go to sleep, I need to see something"
"Oh, ok," I responded.
I already knew what he was going to do he's going to search me. Mike looked at me, showing that he also knew what Dad will do or say to me.
"Good night, Vicky," my older brother said to me.
He then looked at both his other sibling and his father and continued before leaving
"Good night Chris, good night Dad"
Dave looked at his younger son and told him
"Go to sleep, Chris, you have school tomorrow,"
The little boy nodded and left. So, it was just me and my Dad. The detective looked at me and spoke
"Come here"
I obeyed. He gave me his hand and told me
"Give me your phone, I have to see something"
That's what I did, I gave him my device. He eventually opened my phone and searched through my calls, text messages, etc. I already knew why he was doing this: He still suspects that I was continuing the mission of finding out what Josh was hiding, so he wanted to check my phone to see if I called or texted anyone about Josh or if I kept any more hints concerning this matter. After a few minutes of scrolling through my phone, he returned it to me.
"That's all I wanted to see," he said "Good night, Vicky"
"Good night, Dad," I responded, grabbing my phone from him.
I went to bed after that.
To be continued.
