Chapter Eighteen

The doors behind us open and two gorgeous girls walk in. One has wavy blonde hair and her eyes are like a bright blue.The other has dark red hair and hazel eyes with a row of freckles on the bridge of her nose. The blonde is wearing a peach sweater and faded skinny jeans and black boots. The red is wearing a dark blue jacket, left unzipped with a black singlet underneath. She's wearing black skinny jeans and white converse.

'Tess those guys out there were so creepy.' The blonde mutters to the red who I now know as Tess. 'Why did we have to come here again?' Tess sighs, standing behind John. 'Well it was the only one open!' The blonde snaps. 'Woah Kali calm down.' Tess chuckles before turning her attention to the menu board. The blonde who I can now identify as Kali looks at John's back.

'They are going to get attacked the moment they step foot out there.' Ed whispers in my ear. I turn around to face him and he points toward the window. As usual he is correct, the men outside are looking greedily at Kali and Tess. I can only imagine the horrible things that they are going to do to them. 'I thought you didn't mind innocent getting killed.' I smirk.

'Innocent and imbeciles are completely different.' Ed tuts, 'but you are correct I usually wouldn't care but have you seen the way John looked at Kali when she walked in.'
'I wasn't watching John but rather the two models in the room.' I spit
'Are...are you jealous?' Ed laughs, cupping my face, 'you are the most gorgeous
Women on this planet if anything they should be jealous.'
I can feel my face go bright red and then to make matters worse, Ed starts kissing my nose then my cheek and soon I'm squealing from his surprise kiss attack.

'Look how beautiful you are.' He whispers, eyes tracing over my facial features. I raise my eyebrow up at him. 'Even more when you're blushing.' He laughs.

'Okay I dibs the first slice of Hawaiian!' John exclaims, sneaking a glance at Kali. We have decided to eat at the parlour where Kali and Tess are also eating. 'Go talk to her.' Ed suggests, opening the boxes of pizza. 'No.' John says. He folds his arms but takes another glance at the girl. 'You're scared aren't you.' I taunt, 'the master of fear is scared of talking to a GIRL!'

'I am not afraid of anything!' John spits, eyes flaring up in anger,' I can make your worst nightmares come true I can bring to life everything you ever feared and drive you into pure madness!' His voice raises at the end and for a moment I fear that he might gas me. 'John enough.' Ed commands, pulling me even closer to him. John opposite me, takes another look at Kali before slumping down in his seat.

'I'm sorry Olive, I just haven't killed in a while or let scarecrow take control.' He mutters. I send him a sympathetic smile. 'It's fine John but really go talk to her.'
'Talk to her? That's a crazy thought.' He chuckles darkly, 'what happens when she finds out that I'm scarecrow the one who gassed out half of Gotham, the man who drove the batman to a psychotic break, the one who kills hundreds a week!'

'Well it's always worth a shot.' I smile, taking a bite out of my pizza. 'I agree with Olive.' Ed winks, biting into his own slice. 'You two don't understand, I can't just go around talking to civilians. You both were villains so it wasn't hard.' John sighs.
He has a point I suppose. 'What is she has a family or worse a boyfriend.' He slumps even further into his seat.

'So you're interested in her?' Ed asks. 'Is that really all you got from that sentence?' John weakly smiles. 'Well is it true?' 'No.' 'Really?' 'Yes.' 'So you do like her in that way?' 'What? No! Yes? Oh I don't know!' John pouts. I laugh at his expense.

'It's fine Johhny Boy I think she might have a thing for you too.' I tease. We all look over to the table where Tess is talking to Kala but Kala isn't paying attention. She is rather staring intently at John until she realises we are all watching her. With a red face she ducks her head and pretends to be listening to her friend's conversation.

'She's right you know.' Ed smiles, giving his friend a wink. John grumbles and takes a sip of his drink. 'Yeah well what do you suppose I do about it.' He snaps, giving Ed a evil glare. As if on cue, lightening strikes outside, followed by thunder and the pounding rain. 'Well,' Ed starts, pondering on his choice of words, 'maybe you can go ask her for her number and see where that leads you.' John is silent for a moment before his whole face lights up. 'Yeah that's what I'll do.' He grins, hopping out of his seat and walking over to Kala.

Kala and Tess' conversation halts and both girls turn to look at him. I can't hear their conversation over the storm but I can see Kala typing in something on John's phone, and vice-versa. John says one last thing before strutting over to our table. 'I'm assuming that went well.' Ed snickers. 'Very now I think it's best that we leave, I have a plan for a new fear toxin for the bat.' John ushers us out of the building and into the car.
