Rain pounds down as we make a wild dash to the car. Puddles smash under our rushed feet and I reach the car first. 'Open the damn door John!' I yell, pulling the handle back and forth. Edward arrives next and tries the same thing. 'Unlock the car!' Edward bellows. Water runs down his features and down his glasses, fogging his glasses up.
'I'm coming BE PATIENT!' John screams, before tripping over and landing on his stomach. 'John!' I shriek, running over to him, Ed right behind me. I kneel down on his shaking figure and with help from Ed, get him on his feet. The car lights go on with a flash that provides sufficient light in the dark street.
The men from before have moved on but the few streetlights create a sense of uneasiness. I run toward the car and flung the back door open before hopping in. My hair is soaked and sticks to my frame. My clothes are dripping wet and I'm positive there's going to be a puddle where I'm sitting. John and Ed both make a dash to the car aswell before hauling themselves in and closing the doors.
'We can't leave yet until Kali and her friend are safe.' John pants, slumping down in his seat. 'Aw John can we please just go home?' I beg, teeth chattering. 'No.' He declares. This is hopeless we are all going to get sick of we just sit here. 'John did you know that Hypothermia can-' Edward begins before getting interrupted by John. 'I don't care Edward!' John roars, slamming his hand on the steering wheel.
Ed and I freeze, even though I haven't seen scarecrow but from the rumours I have heard, he is dangerous. Edward has most likely witnessed scarecrow as the two work together. However, we both know John has little control over his anger and when he gets like this, scarecrow is usually at the surface. 'John, we will walk home then.' Edward calmly states, opening the door of the car. I open my door and stand next to him before slamming the door with as much force I can muster. The tinted windscreens only give me a dark figure with no detail of John. The silhouette punches the seat but makes no attempt to stop us from leaving. That Kali girl is either blessed by having a protector but also cursed since he is a psychopath. Ed turns around and I follow and we start walking in the direction of home. Thankfully the rain has ceased by now.
'It's times like this I wish I keep my grappling hook in my purse.' I mutter after five minutes of walking accompanied with small chat.' Well there's faults in that statement.' Edward chirps. 'Really?' I remark, kicking a small rock with my shoe. 'Correct its that you aren't wearing suitable gear.' He plucks a stray piece of thread from my jumper. 'And that you would leave me all alone here.' He makes a sad face but it only causes me to laugh. 'Alone! Hah good one Edward, you don't think I know of all your cameras that document Gotham and Arkham?' I giggle. 'So you figured my secret out?' Edward notes, taking his glasses of and blowing on them. 'Told ya I am smart.' I remind. Ed wipes the lenses with his jumper before putting them back on. 'Questionable.' he snickers, increasing his pace. I jog to catch up to him. 'Hey!' I protest, slapping his shoulder. 'I am very smart.' 'Really? Fine then challenge me a riddle.' He retorts. 'What melts in a freezer?' I taunt. 'The frost when it's switched off.' He instantly replies.
'Okay then When is a door not a door?' I scoff. 'When its ajar.' He responds with no thought. 'How?!' I ask. 'How many times do I have to tell you Olive, Riddles and Questions are my life I enjoy figuring them out, like you enjoy scaling rooftops.' He sighs. 'I'm sorry for pestering you.' I mumble. 'Don't be.' He smiles.

'Finally!' I yell as the warehouse comes into view. By now its already dawn seeing as it was a 2 hour walk, avoiding everyone by taking back routes and even sometimes having to climb on roofs. 'In future circumstances I'll stay in the car.' Edward pants. I wait for Edward to unlock the entry point and I follow him inside. We laugh and talk while making our way through the passageways until the familiar door comes into view. 'Go have a shower and get changed into your uniform, I have something to show you.' He gushes, giving me a small push into the apartment. He scurries away, down another corridor. I sigh before heading into the flat.
The place is untouched, so John must not be back yet. I walk over to the TV and switch it on. I haven't seen the news lately so it should be interesting. 'Good morning Gotham this is Vicki Vale reporting live at Gotham Mall where the Scarecrow and an unknown criminal that has been identified as a female with blonde hair are holding hostages. Just hours ago, Gotham Train Central was attacked by Joker himself! This is all because of the massive breakout that hit Arkham Asylum two days ago. Batman and the authorities are doing their best to put the criminals in custody one more but it is seemingly difficult so please stay inside and keep windows and doors locked. More information on the hostage scene after this ad break.' I turn the television off. If the public believes locking doors and windows will keep them safe then they are in for a surprise.

I attach my utility belt onto my shadow uniform, before placing the mask on. I tie my hair into a messy ponytail, a few bits fall out and frame my face. I head downstairs where Edward is wearing his dark green suit with black question marks on it, hat, golden cane and a small green eye mask. 'So what is the plan?' I ask. 'I am in need of some new subjects for my Riddle Rooms.' He hums. 'Okay so where are we going to get some?' I ask. 'Gotham Mall.' He smiles.
