Chapter 8

I knocked on the door and Ash opened them immediately. He pulled me into a big hug and he sighed.

“You scared me, Tay. I thought something happened!” Ash laughed and held the door open wide so that I could go inside.

“Something did happen...” I bit my lip.

I had been so sure about telling him, but now...now that I could imagine the look on his face when I did, the pain it would bring him.

And it was all my fault, I was the one who got them together in the first place. I sighed and Ash’s smile faded away.

“What’s wrong?” He asked, his voice full of concern.

“It’s...” I took his hand and lead him upstairs to his room. He blushed a little and kicked his t-shirt, that was on the floor, under his bed.

I laughed and he smiled a little.

“So, tell me.”

I looked away. “I went to Sarah’s house today...and I caught her making out with another guy on her bed...”

“Wait, what?” I couldn’t meet Ash’s eyes.

“Ash, I’m sorry...I just thought you should know.”

“Is this some bad joke, Tay? Sarah would never...”

I tried to take Ash’s hand again but he pulled it away and shook his head. It was him who wouldn’t meet my eyes this time.

“Ash?”  I bit my lip.

“Sorry, Tay. I’ll see you at school tomorrow.” Ash mumbled and sat down on his bed, his head in his hands.

Guilt washed over me as I walked out of his room and couldn’t help but think that maybe I shouldn’t have told him.

**2 years later/Now**

“Oh my freaking God!” I squealed, jumping out of the car. It was just like I imagined it to be, just like I remembered.

It was full of people. Because it was already dark, fairy lights were put around the stands. The huge Ferris wheel loomed over the place and my eyes shone when I looked at it. For a second it was like I was 15 again, here with Ash.

“No Ash! Oh my god, I’m so scared. It’s way too high! Ash!”

“Don’t worry! I’m here. And don’t lean out to the side too much..you don’t want to fall do you?”

I laughed as a light breeze blew my hair and I brushed it out of my eyes. I didn’t even realise Ash standing beside me. He looked down at me, smiling gently.

“This is so cool,” I giggled and quickly covered my mouth with my hand, blushing. I never giggle. Never.

Ash laughed and just grabbed my hand. I resisted pulling it back and instead let him drag me to the ticket booth.

After he paid, I skipped to the Speed Flip. Ash stared at me with a look of horror on his face and I grinned innocently.

“You said you wanted to hang out, so, let’s hang out.”

“Not fair, you know I hate this ride.” Ash pursed his lips.

“Yup, but come on!” I pushed him toward the ride.
