Chapter 16

The next day I headed over to Laurens. I decided that I needed to be with her a little too, I missed her. After all, she was my best friend, and school (and Ash...) kind of got in the way...

I felt kind of guilty for not paying more attention to her.

We went to the park and decided to go roller skating.

Let’s just say that I’m not the best skater around...

“Careful Tay!” Lauren warned me as I skated past a few bushed. I lost my balance and grabbed the nearest tree.

Lauren laughed and joined me.

“You’re such a klutz.”

“No,” I said. “You’re just way too good at this.”

We smiled at each other.

“So, what happened yesterday? I heard you were with Ash...” Lauren winked and I grunted. But then, I giggled. Giggled. And that only happens on rare occasions.

“Ooh, so it was that good, huh.”

“No!!” I blushed. “I mean, yeah. I mean, no! Ugh. I don’t know..it was like..like it used to be, you know? Like we were still 15 and he never left.” I grinned. “But then again...he did leave and we’re not 15..and things definitely changed.”

Oh no...here it comes.

“I used to love him, like not only as best friends, but more. I was so head over heels over him and then one day he packed up and left. Let’s just say our goodbye wasn’t very pretty..” I sighed.

I looked at Lauren, who gaped back at me.

“You never told me that..”

“I know. There’s a lot you don’t know, trust me.”

Before I could continue, my phone started beeping. I reached in my pocket and took it out, staring at the screen.

1 new text messages from: Ash.

Lauren peeked over my shoulder and nudged me, laughing a little. “Go on, read it!” I smiled at her then looked back at my phone.

Wanna come over?  Parents are gone and its booooring. Ash.

My fingers hurried to type a quick reply.

With Lauren now. Maybe later?

After a few moments of silence, my phone beeped again. Ash replied with “K :)”

Lauren ‘ooh’-ed and winked at me.

I just shrugged. “he just wants to hang out, that’s all.”

She eyed me. “Suuure. And pigs fly.”

I laughed and pushed her playfully.

When I finally got back home from Ash’s house, which was at around 8pm, I took a quick shower and decided I would have an early night and just watch a DVD. But then the doorbell rang and with a frustrated sigh I went downstairs to answer it.
