Chapter 20.

I feel so stupid. Why did I have to shout that, with Sam only a few feet away from me. Not to mention his friends. And like everyone else. And Sarah...she's supposedly going out with Ash, but now she's not? I'm so confused.

But how come she wasn't all possessive about Ash? She used to be like that all the time..

I saunter over to the freezer, opened it, and took out a tub of Ben&Jerry's ice cream.

Grabbing a clean spoon from the dishwasher, I made my waye over to the living room and plopped down onto the couch.

Feeling content, or at least a little bit anyway, I change the channel and stay on MTV.

"Vanessa!" I screamed my sisters name. "Jersey Shore is on!"

I heard her run down the stairs and she flew into the living room, sat down beside me, grabbed my spoon from my hand and started eating the ice cream, her eyes glued to the TV screen.

"Hey!" I protested, but she shushed me.

Getting the hint I went upstairs.

If mom saw Vanessa she would freak, Vanessa isn't allowed to watch shows like that. "She's only 14," mom always says to which Vanessa and I roll our eyes. When she's out the room I'd always tell Vanessa to hang on there. I've been 14, been there done that.

But mom isn't here, and Dad's probably up in his study typing away at his computer, so Vanessa is free to watch whatever she wants.

I smile to myself, I'm such a great big sister.

Then I realise that I'm actually the worst girlfriend ever..

I decide to call Sam's phone, but obviously he doesn't pick up.

Great, now he wants nothing to do with me.

Don't blame him...

I look out of my bedroom window, across the street, at Ash's house. His curtains are drawn so they cover his window, so I see nothing. I wonder what he's doing now...

My ringtone makes me jump, scaring me.

"Hello?" I answer, still looking out the window.

"Hey, Tay-Bear, it's Sarah!"

Whoopdedoo.

"Hi. Sarah..." I say carefully.

"So what you doing?"

I think about lying and saying I'm incredibely busy, but decide to stick with the truth. "Nothing." I sigh. "Why?"

"great! Well, Blair and I--you know Blair, right?"

I opened my mouth to reply but Sarah starts talking again. "Oh yeah, of course you do. Everyone knows me and Blair. So, anyway, we were thinking if you wanted to catch a movie with us tonight or something. Since you're not doing anything.."

"Um."

How can I get out of this one?

Then I smirk. "Sure. But can Laure come too?"

Before she could answer, I cut in. "Oh that's great, we'll meet you at the cinema in 30 minutes." and with that I hung up, feeling quiet victorious, knowing that Sarah can't stand Lauren.

Too bad.

I dialled Lauren's home number knowing too well that Lauren's cell was uncharged.

"Hey, Lauren!"
