Chapter 22.

Sarah gave me a ride to school the next morning and of course, Blair was there too. Sarah was in a great mood, the best one I’ve ever seen her. She must be really trying hard to be my friend. I slightly narrowed my eyes at her.

Was she really genuine about this? Why would she want to be friends…with me? Especially after all this time.

Maybe her conscience is gnawing at her.

It’s not an easy thing to get an abortion, try to keep up your reputation about being  the “Queen Bee”.

I decided to shrug it off. Sarah was nice, the nicest she’s ever been, and I guess she was, is, right. I need her to dig me out of this mess. People will listen to her. Just as Sarah pulled up into the schools parking lot I got a text.

My heart fluttered inside my chest. It might be Ash!

Maybe he just fell asleep last night and couldn’t text me. Or he was too busy, or maybe his phone was on vibrant. Maybe…

I opened the text eagerly. But then I saw that it was from Sam.

You’re such a whore.

“Ouch,” Sarah said, reading the text over my shoulder. I put my phone into my bag with slightly shaky fingers and got out of the car.

As I entered the school, the usually noisy corridors fell silent, and all eyes were on me, Sarah and Blair.

So everybody had read the Facebook page…

Oh my God…

As I walked past Sam with Sarah and Blair at my sides, he shot me daggers and his group of friends rolled their eyes at me.

Lots of people shot me icy glares.

“Don’t worry, Tay-bear. I’ll sort this out.” Sarah winked at me and linked arms with Blair and me, her being in the middle now.

Then I saw Lauren. She was talking with Ash!

They both caught my eye and Lauren started walking towards me. Ash avoided my eyes and instead pretended to be totally engrossed in some book that was in his hand.

I sighed. Ash hates books, even watching the ceiling is more fun than reading a book. He just doesn’t do libraries and reading, so I knew that he was ignoring me.

Had I really hurt him that much?

Does he hate me now?

My heart fell and my stomach churned. Only a few weeks ago our roles were swapped. I was the one who hated him.

“Can I talk to you, Tay?” Lauren asked, standing in front of us.

Sarah rolled her eyes. “Sorry, Taylor is busy.” Sarah and Blair tried to pull me away but Lauren stood in their way.

“Taylor will decide for herself, thank you very much.” Lauren crossed her arms.

“Do you really think she’d hang out with a low-life like you? Taylor is in our clique now. Move, or-“

“Or what, you’ll ‘sting’ me, Oh so High Queen Bee?” Lauren snapped, then her face softened when she looked at me. “Taylor, come on.”

“I..” I looked at Lauren and then Sarah.

Sarah could help me. Lauren was my best friend, true, but I’m sure she could tell me whatever she wanted to later.

“I’ll talk to you later, Lauren, ok? I’ll text you.” I gave her an apologetic look while Sarah sneered smugly. She started hauling me and I left Lauren standing there, with her jaw dropped a little bit.
