Chapter 9
I ate my candy floss in silence. We were sitting on a bench, me in the middle, Sam on my left and Ash on my right.
Sam and Ash kept staring at me, then exchanging cold glares. I cleared my throat and they both looked at me. Ash smiled a crooked smile, a smile I knew well, and Sam grinned showing off his pearly whites.
I dumped the rest of my candy floss in the bin, feeling sick all of a sudden. I took a sip of the bottle of coke we had bought a few minutes before, then I said,
“I think I’m going to head home...”
Ash jumped up. “I’ll drive you home,”
Sam got up and held his hand out to me. I took it and he pulled me up, then he wound his arm around my waist. I looked down at my waist and frowned, but didn’t say anything.
“No it’s cool, Taylor’s alright as long as she’s with me. I’ll bring her home.” Sam said firmly and I looked up to meet Ash’s eyes.
“Yeah, Sam can drive me home. Thanks Ash..” I smiled a little but Ash nodded and left. I felt a strong ping of guilt wash over me.
After all, I agreed to hang out with him and I was actually here with him not with Sam. I bit my lower lip.
“So,” Sam smiled down at me. “Want to head back to your house or what?”
I edged away from him. “I, um.”
Sam laughed. “I didn’t mean it that way, Taylor. Relax. Do you want a ride home?”
I sighed of relief and nodded. “Yeah,”

I closed my history book and headed to the library. It’s the only place I could get some peace and quiet. Plus, I was kind of hiding from Sam.
He kissed me when he dropped me home, and my dad opened the door right when he leaned away. It was an awkward moment.
So now he was telling everyone we were going out and girls were coming up to me, saying “oh my god, he’s so hot!” all day. I just had to get away.
I sat down at one of the desks and sighed because it was just so peaceful and silent with only the book shelves around me.
I got comfortable on the chair and started grabbed the closest book off the shelf. I flipped through the pages, calm.
Then someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around and craned my neck to look up at Ash. He beamed down at me.
“Heeeey,” He sang. The librarian shushed us.
“What are you doing here?” I hissed.
He sat down beside me. “I was looking for you and because I know you, I knew you’d be here.”
“You obviously don’t know me well enough, or you would’ve known I didn’t want to be found.” I crossed my arms.
Ash raised on shoulder and dropped it.
“And anyway, you promised you wouldn’t bother me anymore, since I hung out with you, remember?”
Ash laughed. “Deals off.”
“What do you mean deals off?!”
“Deals off. It was never on to be honest, I’m not going to leave you alone. And you left with Sam.” Ash scowled when he said Sam’s name.
