First Chunin Mission

Naruto and Raikou were walking towards the Hokage tower. They were in no hurry so they were walking in a civilian pace. Neither one knew why Grandma Tsunade needed them after just getting back from a mission but that was above their paid grade.  When they arrived at the tower, the secretary told them to go on through, they knocked on the door and told to come inside. When they got inside, they saw Tsunade at her desk with Shizune behind her. Kakashi and Jiraiya were at the windows. Asuma and Shikamaru were standing in front of the Hokage's desk.

Tsunade: Now that everyone is here, let's get down to business. The three of you Genin are here for the same reason. Lord Third had left his recommendation for who should be promoted.

Shikamaru: 'under his breath' what a drag . . .

Tsunade: Shikamaru please step forward. For your match, you showed most of the qualities that is needed for a good Chunin for that I promote you to Chunin

Shikamaru took his green vest then left

Tsunade: Raikou for your match and everything you did in the battle for the village, you are promoted to Chunin, I expect great things from you, keep it up and soon you will be promoted again.

Raikou took his green vest and waited on the couches out of the way.

Tsunade: Naruto for your part in defending the village during the invasion, I promote you to Chunin, thank you for defending the village.

Naruto took his vest with a big smile on his face and actually put on his green vest.

Tsunade: Now Naruto could you excuse us, your brother has a mission

Naruto: Of course Granny Tsunade, be safe Raikou

With that Naruto, Kakashi, and Asuma left the office. While Raikou got off the couch and stood in front of the Hokage.

Tsunade: Raikou, your first mission is an important one, you have been hand select by the fire daimyo. You are being asked to bodyguard the Daimyo's daughter. You are to go to the fire capital and guard the daughter for the trip from the capital to the Leaf Village, while she is in the village and the trip home. Do you accept?

Raikou: Hai Lady Hokage!

Tsunade: Dismissed

Raikou bowed then left. Tsunade sighed and set at her desk. Jiraiya got out of the window and walked in front of Tsunade's desk

Jiraiya: My my, are you already worried for him?

Tsunade: Are you not? You know how dangerous this mission is, he probably should have a team with him. The last time the princess left the capital 6 of her 10 body guards were killed.

Jiraiya: But they weren't Raikou

Tsunade: You have a lot of faith in your student

Jiraiya: Of course, him and Naruto will pass us after all

Tsunade: Indeed they will

Jiraiya: But that's not entirely why you are worried

Tsunade: You always know huh . . . I believe the fire lord is testing him and hoping to gain favor with him so he will join his guardian 12

Jiraiya: Why do you think that?

Tsunade: He has already sent 3 letters asking about him and after the Chunin exams, he did send in an invitation for him to join

Jiraiya: I see. . and you don't want him to join?

Tsunade: Of course not, he is a very important ninja to this village, in three years, he could be the strongest person in this village
