Maeve's POV:

"Fucking move!"

Dad pulls the boat right into the dock, almost hitting the wooden panel that supported it as he comes to a stop, every body jerking from the harsh movements.

But we had no time to waste.

"Everyone out!" He shouts.

I try my hardest to get off without any trouble, knowing that right now the only person anyone should focus on was Luke.

Ashton wrapped his arms around Luke's shoulders, while Calum grabbed ahold of his legs, their bodies maneuvering their way off the boat as they get onto dry land.

Fishing into Luke's shorts pocket, I reach for his keys, almost sprinting my way towards the jeep as everyone follows.

"Ash," I swallow, climbing into the drivers seat as the two begin to set him down in the back, "stay back there and I- I'll drive us back. Keep pressure on his chest!"

His head shakes immediately, "absolutely not, your head is fucked."

I had forgotten about the pain in my head. It was bleeding sure, but now the pain felt unnecessary.

There was more important things to worry about right now.

"Come back here, Maeve," Ash bellows, "sit back here and apply pressure to the spot I'm holding right now."

"But Ash-"

"Now!" He barks, causing me to jump from my seat, but giving me no time to waste as I  move to the back, "I'm sorry but we don't have time for this back and forth! His heart is still beating but it won't for long if we continue this way."

"Fuck, okay." I scramble, reaching for the cloth above Luke's chest as Ashton begins to slowly lift his own hands from the spot, allowing me to place my own.

The bullet entered right below his rib near his heart. It was bleeding a lot, but I just have to pray it didn't hit anything viable.

His heart was still beating, that's all that mattered. His breathing was shallow, but it was there. He was passed out, but now that our heads were on a bit straighter, it seemed to be just from shock.

And to be honest, I'm thankful his body did that for him.

I couldn't imagine having to see him in the pain he was suffering.

"Hang on." Ashton says, buckling into Luke's seat as he presses against the gas, "you too, Luke." He whispers under his breath.

After the most frustrating and painful car ride, I feel the car come to a halting stop, adverting my eyes up to see the beach house.

"Why the fuck are we not going to the hospital?" I ask, turning to face Ashton who was already hopping out of the jeep, slamming the door shut behind him.

I watch from the window as Ashton runs over to dads car, his arms wide open as they begin to exchange words back and forth. Ashton looked pissed, but eventually nodded his head, running back over to the car with dad leading the way.

"Pumpkin, watch out." Dad huffs, trying his best to shoo me to the side so he could grab hold of Luke.

"Why are we not going to the hospital?" I ask again, watching as Dad slides Luke's body out.

"Because it's too dangerous," he shakes his head, "Ashton, grab his arms."

"Wait-" I say, stumbling out of the car as they begin to walk towards the house, "dad do you even know what you're doing?"
