You were in love.
There was no question in your mind, no doubt in the universe to sway you from the truth.
You were head over heels in love with Logan Walker.
This love can be described as raw and real... Of harsh and heartbreaking.
This was real, and you both had loved each other so much it hurt to picture life outside of each other.
It wasn't always rainbows and butterflies, but that came with falling in love during war, right?
You knew from the Logan Walker saved your life, that you were done for.
You called him your hero, your knight in shining armor; and in turn you become his reason.
Yes, there was a war raging – but Logan Walker... Made waking up every morning just a little brighter.-
Keegan teases you, telling you how gross you and Logan are... To the point he gags whenever you get lost in Logan's eyes.
Hesh throws a pillow at Logan, whenever he snuggles you just a bit closer after a tough mission, telling you both to get a room, because he is tired of looking at you two.
You two stick together like glue...
At first Elias and Merrick were hesitate when it came to partnering you with Logan... Elias worried his son would fail to put the mission first, should something happen to you; but over time you both had proven yourselves worthy... The mission came first, but you both were able to watch each other's back no matter what, and that's what mattered.
Then Rorke happened...
And suddenly there was nothing worth fighting for... Except getting Logan back.
-Then you found him...
It takes some time for Logan to come out of his shell; he doesn't trust himself with what they did to him, but you weren't giving up.
You were his salvation when his thoughts got too much.
You were his comfort when the nightmares felt all too real.
For countless nights into weeks, Logan has woken up screaming, tears covering his eyes, as sweat drenches the bed.
You were there.
Keegan, Hesh, and Merrick wanted him to get some help, but you knew Logan... Talking to someone he didn't know would shut him down, and you didn't want that.
On good days, Logan is a bit more talkative, yet he refuses to leave your side.
You don't mind; you've missed his warmth and want him to be comfortable coming to you.
He's getting better.
You hate how slow time moves; but he is worth the wait.
He's been home for over two months, and tonight you want to make it something special.
Hesh, Keegan, and Merrick have been wrangled into your plans as dinner and drinks are laid out on the table; there is a spicy aroma that mingles with the sweet scent of your infamous chocolate cheesecake.
The conversation is slow at first, but as food is passed between friend and teammate, and Keegan steals Merrick's bread... Well, it's like time never stood still.
There's a sound you hadn't heard in so long, it's music to your ears and you want to bask in this moment.
Logan's laughter.
You can see the laugh lines, as Hesh tells him a joke.
It's not the kind of laugh that seems forced, but instead is a deep belly laughter that fills the room with joy and life.
You stare at him, taking in every detail you had nearly forgotten.
He feels you staring at him and meets your eyes; giving you a wink as he goes back to speaking with his brother.
Keegan elbows you, "What a sight huh? Thought we would never get to see that again."
You hear Keegan's words, and take it to heart, that this is the moment the entire team had been waiting for.
You know he has a long road still to go, but he is worth it.
You know the road will be difficult, but he is worth it.
You don't know for certain what the road has for you and him... All you know for certain, is that you love him... He is alive, and he is here.
And that's all that matters.
