"Yes I understand, no that's fine, yes I'll be in touch thank you."
Zareya ends her call with a deep sigh. After being forced to leave the girls room, Zareya decided to head out to her car to read over her notes that she had written out the night before.
When she was sure everything was accurate at least three times, she made a call. One she didn't want to have to make.
She had called the high up people that dealt with children's cases when they were orphaned or abused. In other words April Hains boss.
The woman had briefly outlined the severity of the case to the man that she spoke to and shared her professional opinion on the social worker.
She was not the correct person for this particular case, she lacked the empathy and patience needed when dealing with such disturbing things. She was unprofessional.
Considering the social worker was listed as one of the best in the country, her boss was not willing to believe what he was being told and demanded proof of such instances.
Zareya had to ask herself did she really want to do this. Did she really want to be the one responsible for potentially ruining someone's career.
She did not. However her patients were more important to her than someone's job. Especially in cases as horrific as Sienna Devoes.
After the long call she had just been on she decided she needed to start gathering evidence. First she would speak with the officers she was becoming familiar with. Surely they would have had body cams.
Leaving her car after almost three hours she began to make her way back to the room where sienna was. However she stopped suddenly when she overheard nursed talking.
"Who would do that to someone so traumatised. Does she really think that was the best approach, you don't need a qualification to know that."
Now the nurses could be talking about any one of the patients in the hospital but somehow the psychologist just knew.
Not wanting to run in a hospital she speed walked to siennas room.
She could hear the screaming from down the hall.
Picking up her pace she abruptly swung the doors open as she reached them.
She could barely contain her anger as she fully registered the scene in front of her.A small, traumatised little girl held down onto a bed with restraints. Her face red and covered in tears from what could be fear or anger. Her body near enough convulsing as she tries to free herself. A woman standing over her with a smug smile, holding onto something and a doctor with a worried look on his face.
"Do you have any idea what you have done."
The psychologist all but yells as both adults heads snap to face her."Thought I told you to leave."
"I do not care what you think right now. Get out of this room."
Zareya turns to the doctor.
"Did you finish the examination? Great. Now I'd like for you to retrieve the last three hours of cctv footage and send it to this email address." She says as she hands the man a note with the email that April's boss had given her.As the doctor leaves she turns to the social worker.
"So Miss Hain, what exactly was your plan of action? Tie her up and force her into submission? You've just made everything worse, reversed any progress she's made. Please leave this room, you'll be hearing from me later."
April rolls her eyes but listens and leaves the room. Now it was just the psychologist and the little girl.
Starting with her legs, Zareya began to untie the restrains.
"Hello sweet girl, I'm so sorry darling." She told her.Sienna was too overwhelmed to register her surroundings. Everything was bad. She saw the not bad person coming back but was too worked up to regulate herself.
With her legs freed she began to kick trying to get the person away from her.
"I know darling, I know. I'm sorry. I know it's horrible.
I'm just taking them off of you then we can get you nice and calm huh." Zareya speaks softly to the girl.Although the screaming had stopped sienna was still struggling against the last restraint on her left hand, scratching and biting at it as the woman circled around the bed to reach it.
Feeling a gentle hand stroke over her cheek the girl looked up momentarily distracted enough for the woman to fully release her.
Noticing this the girl visibly became less tense but was still too worked up to calm herself down. Wanting the bad to stop and the hurt to go away she practically threw herself at the not bad person who had just about managed to catch her before she fell off the bed.
Zareya held the girl firmly as the child clung to her shirt.
Still unable to fully focus on her surroundings and feeling a bit lost, the girl needed to release her frustrations. This led her to sinking her teeth deeply into the shoulder of the psychologist who hissed at the sharp pain.
The bite caused the woman to set the girl down on the floor momentarily as she composed herself.
Sienna did not like this at all.She thought the not bad person was leaving her again.
They were going to do bad again.
The bad people were coming back.Again her thoughts began to wonder as she built herself back up into panic. She was now laying on the floor, banging her head repeatedly, trying to ground herself.
"Oh no darling, don't do that I'm sure it hurts. I'm sorry come here, shhh shhh. See all better. That's better is it."
The psychologist was able to calm the girl with her gentle words and soft strokes as she rocked her back and forth.Sienna was now calm enough for the woman to walk around and wanting to keep the child calm after what had just happened along with the years of trauma she sat them both down in the bathroom where she had left the butterfly nightlight previously and turned it on allowing the little girl to feel comforted even if it was just for the moment.
