The next day rolled around, and the previous memories of pain. Of the smearing and belittling, (F/N)'s mind was now filled with glee after having spent some time with Ruby. And his little playground time helped him put together a good idea at what he was capable of doing.
When classes were over, (F/N) hurried back to his room, leaving the others to do any of their own training, or simply catch up on homework. But when they returned to their dorm room, they saw so many strings of webs going from one end of the room to the other, loose strands on the ceiling, and (F/N) was on the ceiling of the room trying out another version of web training.
He hung upside down, the soles of his feet together, and slowly moving up and down. His teammates were surprised to see their room in such a disarray, and webs along the edges like it was a spider's nest. (F/N) noticed his teammates walking in.
"Hey guys!" (F/N) said as he lowered himself down further, getting to eye level and just hanging there for the time being. "Sorry that the room is such a mess. After last night, I think I've found some more uses for my abilities."
"We've noticed," Lucas said as he looked at all the webbings. "Been having fun?"
"Yeah!" (F/N) said. He then raised himself higher, until he was able to swing to he wall closer to his desk. His hands and toes against the ground, he slowly climbed down. He struggled crawling down, then up. It was like trying to climb down a ladder head-first. But he was getting the hang of it. "I even thought of some cool ideas for my weapon." He fired a web line to a binder, pulling it up and opening it to show his teammates, who brushed the webs out of the way to approach. "The compartments can have vials of Dust in them so I can mix with my webbing. Need a temporary wire? The electric Dust can serve as a replacement until a part can be brought in! A quick zipline? The ice Dust can freeze the web line so that it doesn't bend down during descent. And the combat application is there as well!"
They all leaned closer to look at it. And there were more than just Dust application. A special nozzle to create split webs, web "bullets", a large web wall for a soft landing. A lot of information he had jotted down, but there was one thing he hadn't explained to them.
"Well it's good that you've gotten everything down on paper," Dan began, "but how are you going to get the parts? A lot of what you need was sold out, wasn't it?"
"Well, I was thinking I could ask a friend of mine if they have any." After (F/N) gave that answer, and crawled back to the ceiling, his teammates had a look of confusion over his face.
"Do you mean that fox Faunus you were friends with when you were younger?" Abella asked. "The girl that would only be friends with you?"
"Nah, she moved all the way to Menagerie," (F/N) answered. "No, I was thinking of asking my friend from the science lab."
"Are you sure you want to do that? He's probably a very busy person. I don't know if he would be okay with giving you equipment the lab would need."
"I'm sure they won't mind," (F/N) replied. "Besides, even if they don't have it, surely the doctor would have them. Not to mention, this is a perfect chance to see how I do with swinging!" (F/N) let his feet hang, and then released his hold from the ceiling, dropping all the way to the floor. "I'll be back later!" He rushed out the door without further distractions and hurried down the hallway. Abella hurried to the door and looked down, seeing that (F/N) was happily swinging down the hallway, leaving his line of webs where he went.
"And there he goes again," Lucas said, approaching his bed and laying down on it. "Kid's got energy, that's for certain."
"My assumption would be that being with Ruby helps lift his spirits," Dan said as he prepared to meditate once again. "You've seen how he acted when he returned to the dorm last night."
